stream to icecast and shoutcast
Hello,
I would need an advice on how to change the setup of my streaming server.
The box is an AMD Sempron 2800+ 512MB of RAM, nvidia nforce2 chipset, running on an OpenBSD 3.7.
Changing the OS is the last thing I am prepared to do.
The system is runing icecast 2.2.0 and Darkice 0.15beta (live streaming). Because POSIX scheduling is not supported in OpenBSD (darkice message on startup) I am

Error Syncing to MPEG
I am trying to relay a streamtuner Live365 stream across a ssh tunnel to
a remote XP pc, where I would pick it up using winamp.
I have a similar setup with a non-live365 stream routed using
streamripper to port 9001 and this plays correctly in winamp
For my Live365 stream, I have a RealVNC root session that is streaming
the Live365 broadcast from streamtuner (using XMMS). I can see XMMS

Help w/ ices & ALSA
I'm currently using Icecast 2.2 w/ streams running DarkIce, under RH. I'd like
to try Ices, but so far am completely striking out. My soundcard has ALSA
drivers installed, but no matter what combination of settings I use in my config
file, Ices won't start and I get the error:
"input/input_loop Couldn't initialise input module "alsa"
Can anyone give me direction

streaming ogg and mp3 on the same machine
Ahh, I knew I had simply overlooked something.
Do you have a sample config to share?
Thanks.

MB soundcards and PCI soundcards
Here's a problem that I have uncovered on two entriely separate machines
using the latest icecast2 and ices2 software. Even when the onboard
soundcard is disabled, the PCI soundcard (which has been both a Creative
Live! and an Ensoniq soundcard) is unable to accept input or stdin
audio.
If I enable the onboard soundcard everything works well and I can stream
audio using icecast and ices. But

alternatives to liveice and darkice
are there any decent alternatives to live audio streaming [via. soundcard]
to darkice or liveice? after a few days fighting with darkice, i finally
managed to bring it up only to see that it takes 55% of my cpu just to
encode one 128kbps stream using libmp3lame. a similar 128kbps stream only
takes up 36% cpu using liveice. maybe i have something configured wrong, but
i was sortof expecting darkice

Icecast locks with WARN connection/_accept_connection accept() failed with error 24: Too many open files
My icecast server has been running happily for months now, but just
yesterday it locked up, chewing up all the cpu time it could find, and
not allowing connections. The last snippet of the error log shows this:

failed with error 24: Too many open files

I currently do something like that (I kill and restart icecast every night

MP3 Tags in icecast?
Hello!
Maybe this question has been asked many times before, but searching the
archives of the last 2 years I did not find an answer.
I have installed icecast2 and darkice on a PC running on Ubuntu 12.04.
Streaming works fine on both other PCs, players and even Squeezebox
Radio. There is only one problem: the players do not show the MP3-Tags
of the songs played.
Is this a property of the

icecast2, ogg, mp3, etc
Hi,
Just wanted to clarify, can icecast2 not read OR broadcast any mp3, or
can it just not broadcast mp3 (but still play from a playlist)? I know the
quality would be dropped if it had to reencode them though.
And what's up with that POS Winamp3, it doesn't even play gg streams?!?
I use xmms, but we have winamp3 on a demo computer, it just sits and keeps
prebuffering. I need something

Syslinux patch
Out of necessity, a friend of mine and I have created a patch for
syslinux to allow it to modify the mbr and partition table in windows.
It adds a -m option to syslinux. If given, it will overwrite the MBR of
the drive specified with the mbr.bin provided in syslinux, and if the
bootable flag is not set on the partition being syslinuxed, it will set
it. This was done to distribute with my USB

DarkIce make problems
Hi everybody
I'm trying to encode the soundcard signal to serve it with IceCast, but
I'm having problems with making darkice-0.11. Anybody could help?
I'm compiling in a Solaris 6 OS with gcc 2.8.1, and I've installed lame
and Vorbis libraries.
This is my config phrase:
./configure --prefix=/aplicacions/icecast-1.3.12/darkice --with-lame
--with-vorbis

darkice client for windows
oddcast DSP is what you want, it supports live input (called Advanced Recording) and does support streaming to Peercast...It currently does not support Vorbis metadata for live recording (since metadata for vorbis streaming is inserted into the ogg stream, as opposed to how it's done for mp3 in which the metadata is updated on the server via URL calls)...
anyway, it's the closest thing to

darkice slow stream
Hi,
I am trying to set up a stream from my computer. I have set up Icecast,
and it seems to be working. My OS is Redhat Enterprise Linux 3 and my
soundcard is a SB Audigy SE working with Alsa.
I have set up darkice as source client, and it seems to be working
I get a really slow input stream from darkice. I think the stream must
have double speed for a correct playback.
This is the

DarkIce not at the moment, though as of 0.8 you can save all what is
sent to the server in a local file.

stream sounds like poo for no apparent reason
here at wkdu.org our minds are blown trying to figure out what our
problem is, we are using a dell optiplex gx1 with a soundblaster live
card. we are getting a nasty hum on the line in. the thing is we
plug a cd player directly into the soundcard the hum goes away and
when we plug the line in into anything else there is no hum, so the
question i ask where is the hum coming from? we are
