Shortcut routes
I have two Linux (RH v9) routers connected to the Internet (separate DSL connections), each with two EtherNet cards. Router #1 has static IP address "a.a.a.1" for the internal LAN, and static IP address "x.x.x.x" for the Internet connection; here''s what the "route command shows: Kernel IP routing table Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric Ref

tinc config(?) problems
I'm having a bit of a problem getting tinc up and running between a pair of RedHat (one 6.0, the other 6.1) boxes. It's installed and configured to the point where they can connect, but I'm not seeing any traffic passing between the two systems. System A looks like - tinc.conf: # Sample tinc configuration. # Insert your own ip numbers instead of the placeholders, # and be sure to use

[Bridge] Virtual network and bridges
Hi everybody ! I'll try to explain first what I would like to do with the functionalities of tap and bridge interfaces, qemu, some isos(I used slax(slackware live cd)) and the forwarding mechanisms of the Linux kernel. I'd like to simulate such a network: Internet | (eth0:@public address) * host * | br0 (@192.168.0.254)

WAN setup over frame relay 7 locations
Hi - I have shorewall-1.3.8-1 on a RH 7.3 machine that acts as a firewall for my network. It was running the other day just fine, but today I have problems getting to the firewall. It is a frame-relay network with Cisco routers. Everything is 192.168.x.x / 24. I can''t ping the firewall from the WAN, but can from the main LAN. Sounds like a routing issue to me, but it was working for

TEQL and Subnet problem (reformatted)
TEQL and Subnet problem I have a network topology shown below, and I am trying to use TEQL. P1, P2 and P3 are three linux machines, and each has two network cards. P2 and P3 are connected in two ways: (1) directed connection between P2.eth0 and P3.eth0; (2) connection via P1. P1 acts as the gateway. TEQL is installed on P2 and P3 to load-balance packet transmission by round-robin sending packets

Question: TEQL via gateway
Yesterday I posted a question, but I guess too much detail is provided that no one would bother to read, so I rephrase the question and hopefully some one may be willing to read. Sorry to spam. I am using TEQL on two computers, each with two network interfaces. The two eth0 are connected directly, and the two eth1 are connected via a gateway (a linux machine). The problem is that when I send

routing in xen 3.0: icmp gets routed, but tcp/ip only partially
Hello folks, I have this really strange routing problem that no amount of googling and experimenting has been able to solve. Then again, I''m new to Xen and "advanced" networking, so I could be missing something very basic. Summary: an unprivileged domU with PCI frontend for a NIC is used as a router; icmp gets routed, but tcp/ip only partially. I''m using a

Subnet Browsing, Halfway There
I have a network which consists of two subnets, each with a linux server providing Samba services. With the configuration listed below, I have successfully achieved Subnet B being able to browse Subnet A but, Subnet A cannot browse Subnet B (sharename not found). Is it a Samba configuration issue or is it DNS? (I have it fixed if I put an /etc/lmhosts file on Linux Server A that has the host

Multihome routing question
Hello, I am new to network routing and I need help configuring a linux box with two ethernet cards. In this case it''s a Linux RH 7.3 box, in a cabinet that already has a couple of Windows servers. The Windows server routing is below as an example. The Linux box has an out-of-band interface at 10.130.36.38 and a public eth at 62.50.8.84. I had to add a route for the private interface so

domU networking
Hi list, I''m looking for some help in getting my domU network aware. Currently I can run /etc/xen/scripts/network from dom0 to successfully create xen-br0. After I do this, dom0 can still access any network resource that it could before. However, when I start up a domU, it can only ping dom0; it fails to connect to any other ip. I don''t receive any sort of error message,

browsing subnets over vpnd
Hey :) I have recently set up VPN links between 3 subnets. I can ping back and forth between all of the computers just fine, and samba works on all but one subnet. The problem is that I am unable to use the VPN to browse computers on the office network. I can browse them locally from the office, and I can browse other subnets from them (ie. at home, etc), but when I get on another subnet and try

virtual routing issue
A most puzzling network conundrum has arisen while I was attempting to create a virtual network behind a virtual router which in turn connects the virtual network to my real network. My machine (192.168.103.23) is on the network with my router (192.168.103.1). The virtual router, tiara, has to connect my 192.168.103.* network with the virtual 10.0.0.* network which comprises two other virtual

samba over multiple subnets
I'm sure this issue have been discussed in this list far too many times already... But I've been unable to find it, so... My network is splitted in two subnets; one with public IP and one with private IP. The ones with a private IP are masqueraded on a Linux server, also running Samba and acting as a DNS. The two subnets are connected to the same hub, which in turn are connected to _one_

TEQL and Subnet problem
TEQL and Subnet problem I have a network topology shown below, and I am trying to use TEQL. My problem is: When I ping to P3.teql0 from P2 ("[P2]# ping 16.119.144.66"), the traffic can never go from P2.eth1, and all traffic only goes to P1.eth0. What P2.eth1 (16.119.144.33) did is broadcasting an ARP asking for the MAC address of 16.119.144.66, although I have specified the route to
