dynamic menus in dialplan
I have an application that needs to vary the menu choices available based upon the availability of an external resource at a given time. What I have in mind is a system that can uplink a user to one of many different satellites. Due to the nature of orbital mechanics a satellite may be out of range at any given time. I only want to present a menu of available satellites. I can query an

theora2png
hi, In the list archives I saw a discussion about theora png thumbnails for the status page. I tried the patches posted against the latest SVN but no joy in getting it to work. Is there a version compatible with the latest SVN sources, or should I try patching an older version of Icecast? adam -- Adam Hyde ~/.nl selected projects http://www.xs4all.nl/~adam the streaming suitcase

Open Streaming Manuals
Hi, r a d i o q u a l i a have just finished the first version of a streaming manual for those wishing to learn how to stream under Linux. Its intended as a manual to accompany a hands-on self-learning or workshop based approach. No previous knowledge of Linux is assumed. Another manual on 'advanced topics' will be forthcoming. buffering
hi, I doing some tests streaming from a connection in South Africa that seems to have difficulty handling even a 32kbps stream. Unfortunately there is no scope to upgrade the connection. The stream will go live to radio in London and hence a client has to have as consistent a connection as possible. I was wondering if there are any tricks to reducing buffering on the client in this kind of

streaming providers
hi, I am in search of a provider that can supply services for encoding. I need some storage space (min 500MB for mp3 files) + the ability to run a command line encoder to stream these files, + continous 64kbps out going traffic. Anyone know of a service provider that offers this at a competitive rate? adam Adam Hyde ~/.fi r a d i o q u a l i a http://www.radioqualia.net Free as in

xmms and icecast2
hi, I was wondering if anyone can help me. At the moment I am finishing off a project that is more or less a stream management system, kind of like a web jukebox with a time-based scheduling facility and several other 'radio-like' features... I am using xmms-shell to control the replay of ogg files. I also use noxmms to kill the gui of xmms so I can run the application from a remote

Hi Adam, Thanks for your responce. I was planning on doing both, the encoding and serving, form the same machine, and I'm not sure I see any stability gains by splitting it up. Understand having, for example, a file server and mail server on different machines, so if one goes down you can still use the other. But in this case, one service depends on the other (the server has nothing to

php playlist manager
hi, Sorry if this seems slightly off topic, but it is actually for a icecast application. I am looking for a nice php script for making and editing playlists (m3u)...has anyone seen something? I have done a lot of searching on this, but most solutions are either too simple (usually they dont allow editing) or too complex (full-blown net jukeboxes)... many thanks in advance if anyone can point me

Matt, I guess you are aware you will need : 1. an encoder (eg. MuSE, ICES, DARKICE etc) 2. a streaming server (eg. Icecast2) These can run on the same machine but its generally not a good idea (although others may disagree with this but I woudl rather not have a crticial system where a single point of failure could bring the whole thing to a stop). The machine you mention (the PIII) should be

Adam, If it says "failed to read config file" then it's failed to load the XML file at all, so commenting out one line or the other isn't going to make any difference. Make sure you're specifying the right path to the XML file, and that the file and the directory are readable (by the user that ices runs under)... Dan On Fri, 10 Dec 2004 06:35:20 +0100 (CET), adam

hey, just wanted to say that I got the theora2png to work, it was easy once i realised i had to re-run the automake.sh (doh!) the process, for anyone reading the list in the future is: 1. get the svn version of icecast trunk: svn co http://svn.xiph.org/icecast/trunk/icecast/ icecast 2. make sure you have libpng dev libraries (in debian : apt-get install libpng2-dev) 3. get the patch sent to
