Configuration help with ices 0.3
I removed the trailing slash from the mount-name and set the usernames to be the same. Still get the same result. Error message is: Error during send: Mount failed on http://127.0.0.1:8000/ices, error: Login failed. I don't know if it makes a difference or not but both the icecast server and the ices streamer are on the same server if that makes a difference at all. -----Original Message-----

Ices -> Icecast Authentication Failure
Hello, list -- Sorry for the dumb post about confirmation -- I've always wanted to run majordomo so I could see how this stuff works. Whoops! I guess replying to the email really isn't the thing to do -- even though it explicitly states it as an option... My problem, outside of list etiquette, is this: having compiled all the latest, installed, etc., ... having read all I can find

Configuration help with ices 0.3
Thanks for the tips, made the changes unfortunately it has not changed that I still get the same error message. I've even tried passing along the parameters via command line through ices without any luck. I'm going to attach both my files to this e-mail as it might be easier to read them that way then the copy & paste method. Chris -----Original Message----- From:

Configuration help with ices 0.3
I looked at the error.log file for icecast and here's what I found [time] INFO connection/_handle_source_request: Source (/) attempted to login with invalid or missing password It looks like a combination of two things, it's login into an invalid mount point and the wrong password is being sent. I still can't figure out how though since I have the correct password in the config file.

cannot get icecast and ices to talk...authentication failed
I have a weird one... I installed icecast 2 and ices .23 on Mandake, and am not having any luck I compiled and installed the nightly icecast just today. It seems to work fine, however when I telnet to it (10.0.0.3, port 8000), I am unable to login unless the first line contains ONLY the password. I used ethereal to see that iceS is trying to send to authenticate, and it is sending (as the first

Yet another LAME re-encoding question
Yes, I have checked the archives :) I am running Ices 0.2.2 with icecast 1.3.10 and LAME 3.87. I have compiled Ices without any problems, it found lame.h and the libraries, my problem is that when I run ices, it doesn't re-encode the files. This is the command line I am using to play around with: ./ices -b 64 -H 64 -F playlist -h localhost -p 8000 -P letmein -r -v The log shows nothing

Problem connecting to icecast2
Well I think that I see where the problem is.. That is exactly right. [root@wyatt icecast]# ices -c /home/icecast/ices.conf Unknown Node: Server Unknown Execution keyword: Base_Directory <p>I dont think that ices is actually using the settings in the Server section of the config file. That would explain why the passwords are different. <p>So I guess that I will try to set it up

Ices crashes all of a sudden: EROR input-oss/oss_read Error reading from audio device: Input/output error
It was kind of working for a while but I could not hear the stream but it was running. I started messing with alsamixer and now it crashes. I see the error but I don't know how to fix it. ices-oss-xml: (alsa is the same just a different input module) <?xml version="1.0"?> <ices> <!-- run in background --> <background>0</background>

Problems with Ices
Karl, I installed icecast/ices from the latest stable ebuild on gentoo portage. It appears from the log file that ices is only version 2.0.0 even though the ebuild is version 2.1.0. I just reinstalled icecast with the newest (unstable) ebuild and it still doesn't seem to have version 2.0.1 of ices. Do you recommend that I manually compile or that I find a way to use a wrapper for ALSA to
