Problem with Icecast2/Ices streaming MP3.
Hello everyone, I am running Icecast 2.0.0 with ices-3.0. I run ices on a machine which has all the mp3 files I am playing and stream these mp3 to Icecast which is running on another machine. Every now and then, say 2 hours. Ices keeps churning out errors saying updating meta data and socket errors and keeps retrying and after some time it suceeds for one file and then when playing the next file

Wanted: Ripper that uses ID3V2 and FLAC
I've been with FLAC since 0.7, and I've loved the FLAC files I've ripped with grip, converted from FLAC 0.8 to 0.9, and played constantly on my desktop. And then I noticed the truncated ID3 tags in my FLAC files. I at first thought the problem lied in FLAC; I posted to this list, hoping for a solution. But then I realized my trusty GRIP was the flawed program. Now re-ripping my

ID3V1 and ID3V2 tags
Lo and behold, the new version of grip (http://www.nostatic.org/grip) has ID3V2 support. I want to be able to rip from grip, extract the data from the FLACs into WAVs, normalize the WAVs, then re-encode them into FLACs. How can I make sure the ID3V1 and ID3V2 tags stored by grip are saved in between the FLACs? What shell commands can I use to store the tags in a temp file? Thanks for

[Flac-users] How do I encode a FLAC with tags?
Just finally getting around to this :-) I've never used abcde...looks like it'll be a winner in my book....just to understand...your patch (which does tagging) is against the original and only FLAC patch that enables abcde to do flac which is v1.9.9 and the newest is 2.0.3? or do I just patch your new patch against 2.03? Yeah I know I should just try it (and I'm sure I will) I

Problem connecting to icecast2
I am using the http protocol now and I still get the same results. Does the mount point in ices need to be a directory that I am mounting to with read write permissions? Or is it a virtual mountpoint? <p>At 12:06 AM 4/15/2004, you wrote: >I am trying to connect to an icecast2 server that I have running on redhat 9. > >Via Ice0. I'm no expert on Ices0.3 but that config doesn't look right to me. I'm guessing that it's imperative to have the server config as part of the stream section since you can have multiple streams from one source going to multiple destinations (I think anyways.. :) Take a look at my config for ices0.3 below : --------------------------------------------------- <?xml

Problem connecting to icecast2
In your Ices0. config file you need to change the protocol to work with Icecast 2 (at the moment you have it set up for Icecast 1.3 server). HTTP is the required protocol for connecting to Icecast 2. -------------------------------------- <Protocol>http</Protocol> -------------------------------------- <p>This should solve your immediate problem. <p>Joe.

[Flac-users] CD archiving
I have been following flac development for some time now, but with the release of 1.0.4 I thought I would finally start the task of encoding my entire cd collection into flac format. After looking through the list archives and the webpage I still have a few unanswered questions. 1. What is the best method tagging method to use? Josh mentioned that id3v1 was preferred over id3v2 since it

Tag Proposal -> Tag Standard
Alright. So, the tag proposal that has been labored over for some months has now been reclassified a bit. There new URL is now here: http://reactor-core.org/ogg-tag-recommendations.html And is prefaced by the following statement: "The following recommendations were developed by a community of Ogg/Vorbis users for their own use." I believe the implication is that this document

[Flac-users] How do I encode a FLAC with tags?
Ok so I can use any ID3v2 or v1 tagger (say the perl one) for FLAC files and things will be kosher? I'd LOVE to be able roll my own tagging scheme like you can in Vorbis and I don't mind doing some code either..I wasn't aware that FLAC was able to do that..or at least I didn't userstand how to do that. I guess that is where you register for your own developer ID eh? Josh
