Helix into Icecast2 loopback
Well more specifically I want to transcode a realaudio stream into mp3 on the same machine and on the command line only - reliably! Following up, I managed to compile the trplayer using a substitute __pure_virtual function compiled with extern "C" (without it the function name was being mangled by g++) by now trplayer runs and exits without warning, error or success... the funny thing

OT: Latest Linux Real player
Hi: I know this is off-topic, but figured someone here would know, particularly given Xiph's involvement in Helix. Up till now I've used TRplayer <http://linux-speakup.org/trplayer.html> to play Realmedia content. This is because, as a Blind person, I've no need or desire for X11, and TRplayer uses the Realplayer libs without all that X overhead. but now I would like to play

Helix into Icecast2 loopback
Hello all, I am a little new to Linux so I would appreciate some assistance with this issue. I have been running a Helix server streaming RealAudio encoded content live and on-demand for a while. For the live stream, I use the Real equivalent to Ices which on the Helix platform is called SLTA. All the content on the server is encoded as RealAudio. I have also successfully setup an Icecast2

OT: Latest Linux Real player
Hello. Does the latest Linux real player support RealAudio 10? The RealVideo codec is available as a upgrade but does it include RealAudio10. As far as I know TRPlayer uses the installed Real libraries so it should work if RealPlayer supports it. Also would you mind sending me your compile of TRPlayer? I had some problems compiling it under Redhat 9. All the best Hash -----Original

IceCast + Real Audio?
In the notes for 2.3.0 it says that IceCast can function as a RealAudio/Helix server. Does this mean that it does the quality negotiation as well, ratcheting the bitrate up and down if it needs to? Or am I reading this all wrong? Thanks. -- //// Jason M. SULLIVAN jsullivan@nc.rr.com |c-oo http://www.jason0x21.org \_- "That's not music,

Stream Phone Call: Sound on Consule OSS to Helix server?
Hello, I am working on a project for a client of mine, that involves streaming an incoming phone call. I have a lot of experience with Linux, but something that I have never attempted is using sound under Linux, as all my machines have been servers. Here is the plan, is it doable? The client (a minor league baseball team) calls in to a iconnecthere.com phone number, and Asterisk answers (this

Helix and unrecognised streams.
Kind of an interim release, I have a copy of the Helix/RealPlayer Ogg plugin working in the presence of unrecognised streams, <href="http://www.srcf.ucam.org/~ibm21/omd_players/index.html#hxplugin> The patches won't go into Helixcommunity until I've put in a joint copyright document (and the stream end strategy patch still needs to be completed), but they can be GPLed so if

Status of RealOne plugin?
I'm trying to convice a webmaster to start offering Vorbis in addition to his current RealAudio 3(GAH!) web streams. I was just wondering what the status on the RealOne/Helix DNA plugin was so I could include it in a letter I'm going to be sending him today. <p>--- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project homepage: http://www.xiph.org/ogg/ To unsubscribe

Seeking in a static icecast stream
I currently utilize Icecast on my website, but I am looking for the same kind of functionality as I get with realaudio server when I stream static content - namely, the ability to seek, show the time remaining, etc, especially with Vorbis audio. I realize the intent of Icecast is to serve mainly live, streaming content (or at least radio-style content), but I utilize it mostly for streaming

Bogus data received from ...
Hello, I'm trying to test a tinc vpn between two Linux hosts on the same ethernet. If I start tinc on both sides as 'tinc -n test --bypass-security --debug=5' I can ping both machines from each other and tcpdump shows that the packets pass through the tun-device created by tinc. Status of Vorbis in Realplayer
Hi: I'm working with an internet station. The station manager and I firmly believe in Ogg Vorbis. We already run transcodes of the 56k MP3 stream so modem listeners have the opportunity to hear stereo. We'd like to change our primary stream to Vorbis ultimately, but that will involve overcoming a number of challenges, not the least of which will be getting all the broadcasters to
