Yes, I did : in fact, aumix from the command line behaves exactly like the
KMix GUI : when I change the PCM or Mic level with aumix, KMix shows the new
settings. But even with aumix set to the good values (PCM to 100%), ices get

Zero listeners on icecast stats
Hi there,
I just set up a system of fallback streams for our free radio station
here but I have this weird problem: it always show zero listeners.
Our setup is this:
We have a listening mount point for people - that fall back to a live
streaming from a cellular phone - that fall back to a live streaming
from a base station (a pc), that fall back to a 24/7 archive
streaming.

Standard method to read current listeners without user/password
Is there a standard method to read the current number of listeners from an
icecast2 server without knowing the admin user/password?
We produce radio broadcasting/streaming software for Windows which can show
the current number of listeners. Many Icecast hosting companies won't
provide the admin password as they have lots of other customers using the
same server, so the software

Problem with Fallbacks
Hi All,
I've got a problem with fallbacks and I just cannot seem to find the answer
anywhere, I've been looking for weeks.
Here's the situation:
Stream is working fine and listeners are happy. Then, the stream stops and
the fallback takes over, great everyone is still happy. BUT....Even though
the stream has come back online the fallback continues to play over and over

Zero listeners on icecast stats
Have you considered round robin DNS.. essentially you assign the same A record to two IPs. I do this and it distributes listeners for me without Icecast.

two *independ* shoutcast listeners
Hi all,
I set up a icecast server 2.3.2 with two shoutcast listeners (port 8000
and port 8002).
What I have noticed is , if I have only one "DSP" source that stream to
the first listener (on port 8001), audio become available on both
listener ? Meaning that a player will open with success on
http://myhost:8000/stream or http://myhost:8002/stream with the same audio.
With two source,

fallbackmount use
Hi,
I'm using the FallBackmount which work great.
However I have a lot of Micro source-drops and then my listeners are moved
to the fallback mountpoint ( normal ) but there is no mechanism to move
them back to the main mountpoint when it become available again. I then
moved my listener through the web interface .
Is that a feature implemented/planned ?

metadata
We are currently adding Shoutcast title information support to our radio
broadcasting/streaming software and would like to do the same for Icecast if
this function has been implemented. The Shoutcast server uses a format like
this:
http://server-ip/admin.cgi?pass=yourpassword&mode=updinfo&song=Artist_and_Title_etc
Our software sends this request at each change of track. The server

Zero listeners on icecast stats
I must try that. Will let you know asap!
btw I'm not "trying to stick with the one that has the most universal
"default browser support" but instead trying to avoid a LOT of
listeners writing me "my player/browser/whatever doesn't connect, it
doesn't understand ogg / opus / xspf " etc. etc. - so mp3 it is.
It's simple surviving :)

URL format for Icecast2 metadata updates

Wouldn't that require the admin password? Surely there's a way of doing it
which only requires the source password, heck there must be since
streamTranscoder is sending in metadata updates nicely without needing the
admin pw.

Well, it could be used to provide cheaper hosting by subsidizing the
bandwidth costs with CD sales, all controlled by the host and not the
broadcaster. This would require an

Yes, Oddcast tells me it's broadcasting test.m3u at ~32kb (I set it
this slow) and
Icecast sees this connection. It also sees when others connect, but

Stream metadata settings
Hi,
in another thread I noticed mention of something that should be controlled
by the sender. I don't recall what that was, but it struck a wrong note
with me.
I have made some patches that allow the server configuration to override
the metadata information the sender specifies, as well as the public flag.
Our environment consists of a radio server that is duly licensed for

fallback to static mp3 file?
Karl,
It would certainly be a useful feature for me and I guess others. The current solution with ezstream works but listeners all end up at the same (current) point in the mp3 file. With the mp3 file as a fallback each individual listener would want to start hearing it from the start. This might be more difficult to implement with the single-q that is in the current trunk code, I don't know.
