stupid user tricks with ices2: "No such file or directory" :P
Michael and Karl, Thanks for your replies. Sorry for confusing you with bad test info. The contents of playlist.txtthat I referred to in my earlier email did not match the log result I specified. However, I had ran the test with both a full and relative path in playlist.txt; "/home/john/Visitors.ogg" and "Visitors.ogg". Got it working, however. Tried playing a different ogg

ices stdinpcm
I have problems with the stdinpcm module in ices2. The player fills its buffer and doen't play anything and fill the buffer again and this repeats (with winamp). when I download the stream with wget I can play it from hard disk... is this a common problem with ices2 or do only I experience this behaviour? the oss module works. --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/

stupid user tricks with ices2: "No such file or directory" :P
I must be doing something really stupid. I've read the docs for icecast2 and ices2. Icecast2 is running fine; I can get stats.xml and see that it is running. When I run ices2, I get the following error in ices.log: ... [2005-12-07 05:37:51] INFO playlist-basic/playlist_basic_get_next_filename Loading playlist from file "/home/john/playlist.txt" [2005-12-07 05:37:51] WARN

Live stuff -- voice to music to voice etc. ?
Hi all, I have the Icecast2 server running perfectly and the iceS streamer feeding it either /dev/dsp or a playlist of ogg files, depending on which config I run iceS with (I have three config files: one for live, one for music, and one default (current)). I'm using Slackware w/the 2.4.22 kernel. The problem I'm having is perhaps theoretical: how can I talk a little, play some

suggestion: add mp3 support to ices2
It says here there hasn't been much interest in handling mp3 with ices2: http://www.icecast.org/files/ices_docs/faq.html I just wanted to mention that I'm interested in doing so. I use ices for a web-based jukebox project called Tunez. I have tried the other suggested icecast streamers and have had major problems with both of them (muse and liveice). It would be really cool if the

[ ICES2 ] - Converted .ogg files are not played in a row
Hello, I've succesfully set up Icecast2 and Ices2 for playlist mode, and I can play .ogg files that I have downloaded from the Net. However, if I convert my .mp3 to .ogg and try to play two of them consecutively, Ices returns: [2004-06-29 20:32:09] INFO playlist-builtin/playlist_read Currently playing "../libre.ogg" [2004-06-29 20:35:44] INFO playlist-builtin/playlist_read

multiple streams not working
Hi, I'm trying to run 2 streams from ices, both from separate playlists. I have each defined separately in my configuration (2 different stream entries). I go to listen to the second stream and it plays fine, but the first stream is playing from the same playlist. Could anyone suggest what might be wrong? I've checked the configuration a few times and it looks like it should. Thanks,

Using ices or shout with continuously growing files?
I also tried such things: lxserv:/mnt/fatbass# tail -f recording.mp3 | /usr/local/icecast/bin/ices -M stdinpcm -h localhost -p 40044 -P password Logfile opened Could not find a valid playlist file. Ices Exiting... In this case I try to KEEP READING the mp3 file (which becomes continuously larger), and pipe it to ices (how should I do this?). But ices isn't nice to me and keeps asking for a

ices produces ogg-files with two logical bitstreams
Hi everybody! I encountered a strange problem with ices-2.0.0. I use a icecast2/ices2 combo ti stream live audio and I use ices to record my stream. This worked well until last week. Since then the recording function produces somehow corrupt ogg-files. I cannot decode them to wav with oggdec, the program tells me "Only one logical bitstream currently supported". ogginfo prints out

Problems getting Ices2 to work with live input.
I've got icecast2 and ices2 working with a playlist of ogg files and it works fine. I've been playing for a few days with getting my audio to work at all. I've now got my audio where I can play an ogg file from ogg123 -d oss filename.ogg. When I run ices ices-live.xml I get the following error in my log file: [2004-09-30 09:38:07] INFO ices-core/main IceS 2.0.0 started...

RE: Two questions
I am happy using icecast/ices, but have two questions: 1. If I was using cron to schedule a switching of a playlist, can I do this without restarting icecast so that at a SPECIFIC TIME (let's say at exactly 3:00 pm) a new song can be played without interupting the user listening to the broadcast. 2. Is there a setting when the user first connects to play a *welcome* file (i.e. about the
