parsing icecast 1 and icecast2 logs in GUI web format
I know this was mentioned some time back, but I am curious if anyone has had any further success with this. My radio station is looking for a nice clean comprehensive overview of all connections to our icecast 1 and 2 servers. Someone had tweaked the webalizer program to render all the stats in a nice GUI format. However, there were still a couple items missing. Just wondering what everyone else

subscription services on icecast2
I just got a query from a user regarding icecast2 and thought I'd throw it out to the mailing list. Is it possible to set up some sort of subscription to an icecast2 audio feed? A student at the University of Cincinnati wants to create a subscription service to an indie radio station and have users sign up, and then get a login to the stream. They would have an unique username and password.

OGG streaming and Icecast2
Hi All, I recently just took the time to play with the OGG format and compare it to mp3..and my conclusion is: SWEEEEET Where can I learn about writing a source for Icecast2? I written sources for Shoutcast..that was pretty straight forward..rip through an mp3 file and send the bytes to shoutcast at specific intervals. OGG is VBR...so I'm having trouble wrappign my head around how I shoudl

Strange change in icecast kh14 for IP logging
The problem is for statistics tools like Webalizer, which is expecting CLF log format Common Log Format (CLF) "%h %l %u %t \"%r\" %>s %b" NCSA extended/combined log format "%h %l %u %t \"%r\" %>s %b \"%{Referer}i\" \"%{User-agent}i\"" Referer log format "%{Referer}i -> %U" Agent (Browser) log format

automating icecast2 startups
I have icecast2 running on several machines now and have gotten relaying to work just fine. I've posted my instructions on how to do this to my icecast docs site. I have just a few more questions. Perhaps some one on this list has already addressed these issues but has simply not posted these elsewhere. 1) I'm looking for a startup script for launching the icecast2 icecast ices binaries

icecast2 and static files
If you check this unofficial howto at http://quasi.ksl.com/icecast/ then you will find an example xml config file for ices which allows you to server static music files. However, you will need to remove the 'encoding' section of the file as on my system it would reencode on the fly as long as that section existed. --thanks Michael Edwards http://www.walledcity.ca >===== Original

automating icecast2 startups
Hey Rado, Ack... Yep, I'll give that a shot. Can't just shut down the streams at any given time. This may have to wait for testing. The friend I am helping set this up has decided the quality of Ogg Vorbis FAR outweighs the benefits and performance of MP3. Plus, there are the licensing issues involved with MP3. Any ideas on how to do set up a dual stream, one for low bandwidth users and

Unofficial Icecast HOWTO posted
Howdy. I just posted an unofficial HOWTO on configuring icecast2 on a Linux or other UNIX machine. It's just a draft in DocBook format, but I was hoping it might help someone. I've worked enough with icecast over the past few years that I thought it time to share what I've learned. The URL is as follows: http://quasi.ksl.com/icecast/ I have older documentation in

Strange change in icecast kh14 for IP logging
Hello, Karl, you added a compile-time flag to enable IP logging in icecast. But, this changed a lot the log procuded: 81.53.41.160 - - [30/Nov/2003:10:09:11 +0100] "GET /admin/metadata HTTP/1.0" 200 155 "-" "ices/0.3 libshout/2.0-kh22" 0 81.53.41.160 - - [30/Nov/2003:11:20:14 +0100] "SOURCE /radio-bro-gwened.mp3 HTTP/1.0" 200 19 "-" "ices/0.3

Re: Severe problem with Icecast2 and streamTranscoder
Michael Smith wrote: > This still sounds more likely to be cpu starvation than anything else It seems you were correct. After updating my kernel (!), the CPU load figures given by 'top' and 'ps' for streamTranscoder suddenly rose from 0.0-0.3% to about 30-60%. There are occasional peaks above that, which might very well be causing the problem. And the system load now shows

Restricting access to specific IPs
Hello I tried searching the mailing list and did some googling on the topic also, but didn't find anything very useful. I'm looking for a way to restrict access to my icecast2 server (which runs on a Slackware 8.1 system) by using a list of IPs that should be allowed to connect as clients / sources. .. now how do I do this? ;-) I remember that it was possible in the older Icecast

Webalizer for streams
Hello, last night, I worked to make a new version of webalizer for streams. I put some info and example here: http://radio.stalig.com:443/stats/webalizer/index.html If you are interested... It's not finished (yearly stats are not ready), but monthly and daily stats are fine. I'll try to have it integrated to regular webalizer version. Chris --- >8 ---- List archives:

Webalizer displays wrong year
I just run webalizer manually on an Apache log, like I have done many times before. Some new statistics were created, but for "August 2006" instead of "August 2008". I cannot figure why! Because of my mistake, the webalizer statistics for this site have not been updated since February. Now I tried to update them for the first time - with the results I described above. The

Webalizer and GeoIP?
I have a small problem with webalizer. I use it to analyze logs of a small web server hosting a single site, and the only thing I am interested in from webalizer is the piechart diagram it produces about the geographic distribution of people visiting the site. However, the piechart it produces gives me a very crude information, with 50% or so of visitors belonging to "unresolved",

Unofficial Icecast HOWTO posted
Absolutely!! That was one thing that I was missing and would have like to have included. You can either send me the data or let us know the link. If you wouldn't mind adding to this HOWTO and I will post a link to your page so that people would know where I got the original files. Sounds good. Moving clients and JOrbis
One solution might be to make a named pipe (mkfifo live), add that item to your playlist, and pipe data into that pipe. It works fine for local files (cat music.ogg > live), but when I try with for example "wget http://icecast2.ksl.com:8000/ksl.ogg -O live" ices keeps giving: [2003-08-07 11:50:05] WARN input/input_sleep Extended sleep requested (1127219200 ms), sleeping for 5

example config for icecast2 relaying
Is anyone doing pull relaying under icecast2? I think I've got my configuration file more or less correct but I wanted to check it against someone else's working config. Would anyone be willing to post an example here? I have a machine labelled X in a local DMZ where audio is being fed in directly. I am encoding this audio and then streaming it out. I have a machine labelled Y that sits at
