could not start logging
Hello!
Whenever I get that error, its due to either the directory/file not existing,
or having the wrong file permissions. Remember, it needs the file permissions
of the user you created to be "icecast".
Happy holidays all

I can't start video streaming
Dear Guys;
I am very beginner of Icecast, but I already setup several icecast servers
with MP3 audio music broadcasting with icecast2 (2.4) and BUTT or ices as
source clients. Those are works well for almost one year already.
I tried to make video casting with icecast2 (2.4) and VLC media player as a
source client, but icecast never recognize VLC as a source.
icecast.xml had set just same as I

How to log querystring values?
Hello,
I need to get some values passed in the querystring request in the log
file.
Something like that bellow:
ie: "GET /radio?id=1 HTTP/1.1" instead of only "GET /radio HTTP/1.1"
Do I need to change something in the source and compile? Or there is
another way?
Best,
Thiago

building icecast2 on OpenBSD
Is there anyone who has built icecast2 successfully for OpenBSD? I built it
from source with no problem on Linux, but on my OBSD system the configure bombs
while checking for a function in libxslt...
# ./configure
checking for a BSD-compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c
checking whether build environment is sane... yes
checking whether make sets ${MAKE}... yes

icecast2 can not log
Hello,
I'm trying to setup icecast2 and darkice on a FreeBSD test system prior
to putting it in to production use. I've downloaded and installed the ports
for both without a problem, created directories logs and conf within the
icecast root which is /usr/local/share/icecast, and created an icecast user.
Then i edited /usr/local/share/icecast/conf/icecast.xml, the relevant

One more question of possible note.
Hello again all.
I want to thank Karl H. for pointing me to xiph.org/~karl and getting me
some save files winamp likes the first time. That ucler is at an end.
The next ucler involves two rather quick questions:

icecast2 will not start from the /etc/init.d
I can start it fine from the command line using icecast -c icecast.xml
we have ver 2.4.
When I try and start it using /etc/init.d/icecast2 start it says [ ok ]
Starting icecast2 (via systemctl): icecast2.service.
but it actually doesn't start. nothing in the error logs, nothing in
syslog.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Newbie-Question
Hi
I think I mangaed to install icecast and ices correctly, but I've got trouble starting it.
Starting icecast as root gives me
Should not start as root, use changeowner directives
Okay, so I changed the defaultvalues for changeowner to another user on this machine.
But now I get this error:
Changed userid to 501 (I thin thats okay)
changed groupid to 100 (ok, too)
FATAL: could not open error

Hello everyone, here is some php code.
Okay,
So remember that question I had last week about taking a bunch of relay servers
and greping the status2.xsl file for the number of listeners? I coded it. I
have to apologize right now, as its krufty, nasty, braindead code. But it
works, and I'm rather proud that after being up as long as I have been up
and drinking as much coffee, it works. It should be attached to this e-mail.
