icecast 2.0.0 chroot problem
Hmm Im not too familar with RH AS, I have been using Redhat since 5.2
though, and in my experiences its better to be safer than sorry.
Essentially what you are allowing is the icecast user the ability to login
to a shell, which can lead to disaster. Just a piece of advice, I would
disable the shell on that user!! Good Luck and let me know if you have any
other questions on getting Icecast up.

Problem with fallback on 2.31 on Windows XP
If this isn't supported, then I apologize for the disruption, I'll
just tell my customer / client / friend it's time to seriously rethink
what they're trying to do. If support is possible, here's the problem:
I took a running icecast.xml file from a configuration that works. It
has live, backup, and listener (called /broadband) mount points. A

No sound on any stream.
I have 2 icecast servers and neither will play music, 1 gentoo, the other
ubuntu when connect to a mount and trying to broadcast via mixxx using both
mp3 or ogg. Both will establish a stream feed but appears to have no sound.
One of them won't even stream a ices2 mounted song either (same symptom,
connect but no actual play occurs). Error logs are clean too, firewall is
turned off on both

configuration & error help
Hi everybody, just a new face showing up looking for a little help
configuring IceCast.
Just installed the software with a few other programs in an attempt to
start off my own internet radio station.
Using SimpleCast to take the line-in and stream it to IceCast, which
in-turn does the obvious and streams it to the internet.
I'm looking at just creating a station of just 5 max users (for

Server not moving clients to fallback
Hi, thanks in advance for any help that can be provided for this
head-scratcher.
I'm configuring a new server and can't get it to move listen clients to
the fallback file when the source client disconnects. I probably have a
misconfiguration in icecast.xml.
Here is the <mount> section:

No sound on any stream.
I figured out half the issue.
Icecast appears to be transmitting on port 8000 just fine. The more I dig,
the more I realize icecast is fine.
Browser vlc seems to be broke. Direct connect via VLC standalone to ->
http://66.228.49.182:8000/66.228.49.182.ogg.m3u works perfect.

I break there.
Thank you!

icecast2 mountpoints maximum
We are using icecast as stream-relay for a true narrowcast solution
we've developed. The idea behind the system is that each individual
client gets it's own mountpoint.
Basically we have an application that creates streams. Its written in
c++ and uses libshout to handle connecting to icecast.
Everything works fine, as long as we keep the number of mountpoints
below 347. As soon as we

Icecast chrooted and ssl
Hi all,
I have been struggling to setup icecast with ssl on port 443.
I am running Debian Wheezy and installed icecast by downloading the source
and compiling.
This went all ok, including ssl support.
When running ssl on a port >1024 and not chrooting ssl works fine, so the
certificate is ok.
But when enabling chroot everything works but ssl.
Any ideas ?
TIA! Paul

Player mysteriously quits...
I posted the other day with a question about a player that mysteriously quits playing the icecast stream. I believe the problem is related to the icecast stream for two reasons. 1) Because it quits on more than one different player (Winamp 5 and Foobar2000) and 2) Because I used to use shoutcast with Winamp 2 and never had this problem. Anyway, I tried to get as much information about the problem
