samba and firewalls
I have a little home network with one Windows 98 PC and a pc running linux. My idea is that as soon as DSL is finally made available to my area (which I keep getting told will be real soon now) I want to route it through the linux box and up to the Windows PC, using IP masquerading, etc. At present I have samba enabled on the unix box which opens up several worthwhile conveniences to me:

Now, my Asterisk box is behind a firewall, so I have set the firewall to forward UDP port 4569 to my Asterisk box put I'm having problems with this. I followed the instructions on the Asterisk Firewall Rules page but it

LDAP/iptables
Hello, I am trying to get LDAP running. So far, the server is running but I cannot connect to port 389 or the server using webmin or phpldapadmin. It could be my ISP has blocked this port but I'm not sure. I have tried to telnet to port 389 but it is refused. All other services run fine. I user the iptables ruleset found in the IP-Masquerade HowTo. Below is the ruleset I follow for

creating script for init.d
Hello. I'm moving from a very old Fedora Core 1 to CentOS 4.4, what a change!! Three year ago, I wrote some script (network related) and worked very well. Now, I can put into init.d by means of chkconfig and I restarted the system, but always hang when executing my srcipt (in my new centos 4.4). There a manual for making scripts for init.d? there is some new requirement by which it does not

sshd problem on reboot
Hi list, I have a dedicated server managed through ssh and this morning I have upgraded my system from 7.2 to 7.3. After yum finished his work, and rebooted my server. After reboot I tried to log in with ssh and got "Connection refused". I've noticed that all public services were online. So I've contacted my provider to get access to the server and I've noticed that ssh

Automatically inferring %d on multi-domain virtual install ?
very intrigued by your solution Timo, have attempted something similar in the past to no avail. When I tried I was unable to retain the user at domain when setting the domain as extra field - protected is new to me and can't find documentation - but also doesn't work :( # cat passwd.domains 10.100.1.1:::::::domain:protected=foo.org 10.100.1.2:::::::domain:protected=bar.org # cat

server is running openssh 4.6p1 on linux x86 (32bit) client is running openssh 4.6p1 on linux x86_64 (64bit) Just connecting from the client to the server and running "top" long enough results in: Disconnecting: Bad packet length 3690378913. This seems like a 32/64 bit problem to me. -- Andreas Steinmetz SPAMmers use robotrap at domdv.de

Asterisk@home .05 release questions on setup.
Hello, Great job on the Asterisk@home project. Looks great this new version is really nicer looking. But I have a few questions. 1) For the new web access http://localIP/maint how and where do I change the password. 2) Since I don't use the Amp section for setup the .conf files I use my own. How do I get the asterisk server running status up. I have it running and works but shows up as not

Proxy login failures
Hi, I'm using two dovecot pop3/imap proxies in front of our dovecot servers. Since some days I see many of the following errors in the logs of the two proxy-servers: ... dovecot: pop3-login: Error: proxy: Remote "IPV6-IP":110 disconnected: Connection closed: Connection reset by peer (state=0): user=<myuser>, method=PLAIN, rip=remote-ip, lip=localip ... dovecot: imap-login:

T100P HDLC configuration
All, I am trying to configure hdlc support on T100P Digium card - everything seems ok... but it just does not work at all. I was able to compile all drivers, the light on the card becomes green when I plug T1 link.... but I even can't ping default router IP... there is no data coming back to me, so I am confused completely now. Also I tried both protocols - raw hdlc and cisco hdlc. The

VPN server and logon to Samba PDC
My goal is to make VPN access to our Samba PDC (FreeBSD 7.0) so that users can access there home shares from Windows clients. I have read the instructions at http://samba.org/ftp/unpacked/lorikeet/pppd/final-report.pdf, but I can't make it work. Don't know if is due to my lack of skills or has something to do with the Popop functionality in FreeBSD. Following the instructions, i made a

dovecot-auth: returning incorrect maildir for user (user seeing another user's mail)
timo, here is an bizarre bug for you: i had (foolishly, it turns out) configured dovecot-auth to do ldap authentication binding with a prefect userdb (configs at end of message). everything worked fine, although with huge numbers of pop logins per second we started to see some pileup in the pop3-login processes as they were all waiting for ldap responses on the single ldap connection. the
