example config for icecast2 relaying
Is anyone doing pull relaying under icecast2? I think I've got my configuration file more or less correct but I wanted to check it against someone else's working config. Would anyone be willing to post an example here? I have a machine labelled X in a local DMZ where audio is being fed in directly. I am encoding this audio and then streaming it out. I have a machine labelled Y that sits at

using the latest icecast and ices to stream both ogg and mp3

using the latest icecast and ices to stream both ogg and mp3
I've gotten a request from another broadcasting partner to set up yet another streaming audio server. They would like to stream in both ogg and mp3 formats from off a single icecast machine. I have been searching through the archives and I have seen this mentioned as being possible, but no real configurations. I would of course place LAME on the box and use that for streaming just as I would

using the latest icecast and ices to stream both ogg and mp3
So basically, I download and install ices 0.3, fire it up as well and then using the currently running icecast server, just set a new mountpoint. Instead of /ksl.ogg I would make a /ksl.mp3 mountpoint. This would be configured in the configuration file included with ices 0.3? I am only doing live streaming, feeding a raw audio feed into the box, and then encoding it on the fly. Thanks much. KJ

icecast1 and compilation on RH9
I know that icecast-1.3.12 is deprecated and for a good reason. I wanted to test it out on my Red Hat 9 box today. I found that it would not compile. Has anyone else seen this? What I wanted to try was testing streaming MP3 audio and relaying encoded icecast audio from one machine to another again. Is there an easy way to accomplish relaying from one machine to another using icecast2. I have

automating icecast2 startups
I have icecast2 running on several machines now and have gotten relaying to work just fine. I've posted my instructions on how to do this to my icecast docs site. I have just a few more questions. Perhaps some one on this list has already addressed these issues but has simply not posted these elsewhere. 1) I'm looking for a startup script for launching the icecast2 icecast ices binaries

Unofficial Icecast HOWTO posted
Absolutely!! That was one thing that I was missing and would have like to have included. You can either send me the data or let us know the link. If you wouldn't mind adding to this HOWTO and I will post a link to your page so that people would know where I got the original files. Sounds good. Unofficial Icecast HOWTO posted
Howdy. I just posted an unofficial HOWTO on configuring icecast2 on a Linux or other UNIX machine. It's just a draft in DocBook format, but I was hoping it might help someone. I've worked enough with icecast over the past few years that I thought it time to share what I've learned. The URL is as follows: http://quasi.ksl.com/icecast/ I have older documentation in

example config for icecast2 relaying
Very nice. So let me get this straight. Does the config you used below (which very closely resembles what I set up on my machine as well) sit on server X or on server Y or on both? I think the complete mirror is what I want. Could I set it up so that both examples are enabled? Just asking in case someone else has done this. Thanks much for the helpful hints. Let me go back to those remote servers

parsing icecast 1 and icecast2 logs in GUI web format
I know this was mentioned some time back, but I am curious if anyone has had any further success with this. My radio station is looking for a nice clean comprehensive overview of all connections to our icecast 1 and 2 servers. Someone had tweaked the webalizer program to render all the stats in a nice GUI format. However, there were still a couple items missing. Just wondering what everyone else

streaming ogg and mp3 on the same machine
I have been able to successfully stream ogg vorbis as both a playlist and as a live stream off my icecast2 server here using port 8000. Works great. I can also stream MP3 live audio using darkice and icecast2 off the same box using port 8001. But I have been unable to create a situation where I can stream *both" ogg and mp3 off the same machine. I have even created a new icecast directory to

subscription services on icecast2
I just got a query from a user regarding icecast2 and thought I'd throw it out to the mailing list. Is it possible to set up some sort of subscription to an icecast2 audio feed? A student at the University of Cincinnati wants to create a subscription service to an indie radio station and have users sign up, and then get a login to the stream. They would have an unique username and password.

automating icecast2 startups
Hey Rado, Ack... Yep, I'll give that a shot. Can't just shut down the streams at any given time. This may have to wait for testing. The friend I am helping set this up has decided the quality of Ogg Vorbis FAR outweighs the benefits and performance of MP3. Plus, there are the licensing issues involved with MP3. Any ideas on how to do set up a dual stream, one for low bandwidth users and

Hello! I'm extremely new at this so don't hurt me. I want to stream CD content from my RedHat 9 box using icecast? What is the best way to do this? I'm getting confused with all the different pieces and configurations. Is there a simple guide that discusses what I want to do? thanks! __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Newbie questions: icecast streaming live radio...
Hey all, I'm a newbie to icecast and to streaming in general. I have gotten as far as downloading and compiling the icecast2, ices, and required libraries. I have started to configure icecast and ices and I can point a browser to my icecast server, but then I get stuck. So, this all leads me to some questions that I can't answer myself from the available HowTo, FAQ, or man pages.
