According to what I've read on this mailing list, it should be possible to stream MP3 data to icecast2 using ices-0.2.3, which I assume also should be the case for any other streaming client based on libshout1. So I decided to test this out to see if we really could dispense with icecast1 altogether on the server I help administer. My results were not promising, to say the least. I wiped out

I've been running classic icecast + liveice for some time now (several years) without problems. A couple days ago, the station manager (NPR affiliate) came to me and asked if we could 'inject' a static file into the stream. When they upload their music to our site, they upload Mp3's of which some have entered the MetaData information in the MP3. So I have a new Icecast setup with two channels, each of which carries a link to MP3 files. Whenever I update the .m3u file to reflect a changed link, I have to restart Icecast and the Icegenerator to make it recognize the change. Is there a way to automate this process?
