Icecast2 Win32: any way to minimize on start or run as a service?
Is there any way to run Icecast2 Win32 at Windows startup and at least one of the following: minimized, in the system tray, or as an NT/2000 service? I looked through the docs but couldn't find anything. Icecast2 Win32: any way to minimize on start orrunas a service?
You could always run this as a service using Microsoft's tools from the NT 3.5 Resource Kit. The two tools you need are srvany.exe and instsrv.exe. I've used this many times on Win2k with no problems. You can download the resource kit from Microsoft here: ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/bussys/winnt/winnt-public/reskit/nt35/i386/i386.exe And there is an article about how to set it up here:

Newbie Icecast question
I've installed Icecast2 on RedHat 9 and am able to use WinAmp and Oddcast on a Win2000 PC to source audio to the Icecast2 server. This has helped me understand how to stream a live feed to Icecast2, which is incredibly easy and useful. My question is regarding pre-recorded audio files. If I have a series of archived live performances (let's say they were archived to MP3 files), how

Icecast2 Win32: any way to minimize on start or run as a service?
I believe there is some way of forcing a Win32 app to run as a service as long as it doesn't require any input, but I can't find the details at the moment. I can see it being a very useful option for the Icecast2 Win32 program. It could be then used on a Windows server which are often not logged in for security reasons. Maybe something for you to investigate sometime oddsock. A service

Or does your executable override this? regards Thomas --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ icecast project homepage: http://www.icecast.org/ To unsubscribe from this list, send a message to

Need to add NIC drivers to PXELinux
Does anyone have a link to good instruction on have to add drivers to PXELinux? I imagine I need to cram them into its initrd.img file. I am using PXELinux to help me deploy Linux systems from WDS and we just received in a bunch of Dell R720xd systems that are going to require new NIC drivers and possibly Mass Storage drivers. Coping music from tapes
OS: CentOS 5.0 x86. Hi, I have some old music tapes and a walkman, and want to move the music to mp3 format. So far I am thinking to use Audacity to record the music to wavs, and then do not know, somehow I will compress the wavs to mp3s as vbr 192 Kbps with something. Has anyone done this? What app did you use for recording the music from the tapes and what app did you use to make it mp3?

hardware ogg vorbis decoder
As it seems that the vorbis decoder is now stable with respect to format/features, would it be time to start thinking about a hardware implementation? I would be interested in pursuing this if some there is consensus on requirements. If there is some enthusiasm for it then a module could be set up on the opencores site for a gate-array decoder. cya, Andrew... --- >8 ---- List

sshd 7.8p1 close connection from VMware Fusion NAT Port Forwarding
After upgrading my VMware Fusion (10.1.3) Arch Guest to the latest with OpenSSH upgraded from 7.7p1 to 7.8p1, found that ssh from macOS Sierra (10.12.6) host to Arch guest via local NAT port forwarding failed, but via Arch LAN IP worked, downgraded OpenSSH from 7.8p1 to 7.7p1 fixed the problem. Any idea about this bug? VMware Fusion NAT Port Forwarding setup: VMware Fusion ? NAT Port Forwarding

AmooCon video recordings online
JFYI and slightly off-topic: All of the videos we recorded at AMOOCON open-source VoIP conference (Rostock, Germany, May 4-5) are now available on the web site: http://www.amoocon.com/ All of them are available in different qualities and formats, including Quicktime 7, versions for the iPhone and iPod and h.264 which IIRC can be played in MPlayer etc. 100 GB in total. :-) Philipp Kempgen

Curious warning in R for OS X w/Xwindows
I recently reformatted my TiBook and reinstalled everything from the system up. After installing Apple's version of XWindows and the XWindows version of R 1.7.0, I ran the two and got a strange warning: ----- R : Copyright 2003, The R Development Core Team Version 1.7.0 Patched (2003-05-14) R is free software and comes with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY. Printer connection question
Hello, Is it possible to set up a printer on a Sun Solaris (sparc 2.6) machine and have it properly print to an HP Laserjet printer without the use of jetdirect? I'm trying to print to an NT controlled printer using Samba on the Sun machine. I've been trying to utilize the "smbprint" command, however I'm having all kinds of problems. On the Sun machine, I add the printer

smb transfer
Hello samba gurus, I'm just curious if there is a way to have samba be able to restart a transfer of a file from the point that it left off? I'm guessing that it was never intended for that use, but I thought I would ask anyway. I have a Cisco router with about 95 modems in it and roughly 850 remote NT machines connected via a WAN (dial-on-demand with Cisco routers). My company was

It's doable "below" Samba using the Samba VFS, by passing the start-point as part of a filename and having the VFS (which you'd have to write!) return the rest of the file. Say you were transferring

I mentioned this 1 or 2 years back but it's still not fixed. I presume it's a Icecast2 server problem. I'm using the latest Oddcast client, and my server host Mediacast1 has just updated to the latest Icecast2. I'm currently streaming a track in Vorbis format called: M?ire Brennan - I L?thair D? It shows this correctly in Winamp on the broadcast PC. On the Icecast Status page,

Winamp v5.22 / oddcast / aac+
I'm not sure if this is an icecast issue or oddcast issue or both, but the latest Winamp (v5.22) is not now playing AAC+ streams encoded with Oddcast. Winamp v5.21 and earlier versions work fine. This may be some attempt by Winamp developers to force people to use Shoutcast, or to prevent oddcast from using their enc_aacplus.dll. Right, just took some time to set up the Shoutcast DSP to
