Windows source client problems
I'm having trouble with sourcing from a live mic from a Windows machine. I've used oddsock and ezstream, and both stream MP3 files to my icecast2 server with no problem. I've checked and re-checked that my Windows recording device is the microphone input (Volume control settings/Properties/Recording/Microphone is selected as the recording device). Windows Sound Recorder records

Icecast2 Win32: any way to minimize on start or run as a service?
Is there any way to run Icecast2 Win32 at Windows startup and at least one of the following: minimized, in the system tray, or as an NT/2000 service? I looked through the docs but couldn't find anything. Icecast2 Win32: any way to minimize on start or run as a service?
I believe there is some way of forcing a Win32 app to run as a service as long as it doesn't require any input, but I can't find the details at the moment. I can see it being a very useful option for the Icecast2 Win32 program. It could be then used on a Windows server which are often not logged in for security reasons. Maybe something for you to investigate sometime oddsock. A service

Icecast2 Win32: any way to minimize on start orrunas a service?
You could always run this as a service using Microsoft's tools from the NT 3.5 Resource Kit. The two tools you need are srvany.exe and instsrv.exe. I've used this many times on Win2k with no problems. You can download the resource kit from Microsoft here: ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/bussys/winnt/winnt-public/reskit/nt35/i386/i386.exe And there is an article about how to set it up here:

Or does your executable override this? regards Thomas --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ icecast project homepage: http://www.icecast.org/ To unsubscribe from this list, send a message to

m3u problems
Hi everyone, I am using icecast 2.0.2 using the webroot (no mount point) to serve all the ogg files within the folder that is the webroot. According to the documentation I should be able to take the audio (test.org) file name and add a .m3u extension, and icecast should automatically generate a m3u file in response. However at the moment it serves the test.org file as the m3u file. This

static file streaming
Hi, I have installed the Icecast2 on my Ubuntu Linux and I was not able to figure out how I could stream static mp3 files. Can anybody help me? What should I do to do this? I put the mp3 file in the webroot and I tried to retrieve it with the " http://host:port/try.mp3" URL but I could only download it (as a whole) but not as a streamed media. Do I have to convert the mp3 to another

streaming single mp3 files
I am new to this list, so this question is already answered. I thougth that if <webroot> and <fileserve> is set in icecast.xml i could stream mp3 files by http-protocol like http://occ1.net:8003/modules/media/gallery/music/alternativerock/mab/emphasizedlove.mp3. But it didnt work. I have setup icecast and ices to stream *.m3u and that worked. So my setup should be correct.

Mountpoint problems...
I can't figure out exactly what to put as my Icecast webroot directory, nor what to tell my Winamp Oddcast plugin to name as the mountpoint. I'm a n00b here and barely know what these words even mean, lol, but I can get the Oddcast to log in to the Icecast and people can go to the .m3u file I put into the mountpoint, but it either just cycles songs or doesn;t play. I noticed that it only

No sound on any stream.
I figured out half the issue. Icecast appears to be transmitting on port 8000 just fine. The more I dig, the more I realize icecast is fine. Browser vlc seems to be broke. Direct connect via VLC standalone to -> http://66.228.49.182:8000/66.228.49.182.ogg.m3u works perfect. http://tinypic.com/r/2yl1qhc/6 I break there. Thank you! Always starts playing at the beginning of a stream
Is there a way to force a client to always start playing at the beginning of a stream? Currently, the client starts from wherever ices is playing at, unfortunately, this is not ideal for my situation. Thanks in advance. --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ icecast project homepage: http://www.icecast.org/ To unsubscribe from this list, send a message to

How to handle NAT ?
Now I have the icecast server working within the confines of my home network (ip: 10.1.1.x), I want to be able to connect to it from the other side of my firewall too. I configured the firewall to pass all port 8000 traffic to my linux server (local address 10.1.1.101) If I connect from the other side of my firewall using my external ip (217.x.x.x), then I see the connection come in on the icecast

New to icecast2, few questions
I have a icecast2, everything is working great, except for 2 issues.. 1, Quicktime is always buffering... never plays, anyone seen this and if so know of a solution? 2, the icecast web server gives 404 errors for the png and css files that are in the web root, is this a known issue? Thanks in advance! - kevin

redirect a defunct sc stream to icecast stream
hello, Perhaps this is a common request. Our station had a single shoutcast stream on domain:9999/listen.pls. Now that I am using icecast, the stream playlist will end in m3u, preferably on the same port. I would rather redirect the listen.pls requests to this new stream instead of requesting other sites and relays to change the url. One relay in particular is very difficult to communicate

No sound on any stream.
I have 2 icecast servers and neither will play music, 1 gentoo, the other ubuntu when connect to a mount and trying to broadcast via mixxx using both mp3 or ogg. Both will establish a stream feed but appears to have no sound. One of them won't even stream a ices2 mounted song either (same symptom, connect but no actual play occurs). Error logs are clean too, firewall is turned off on both

Re [ogg]
I guess as a mercy plee for help I'll mention why I need to have the static ogg files play as the mp3 static files play with icecast1. I'm the founder of the LPBN and I've recently made Richard Stallman's files available as downloads (it is a work that is still in process). Stallman has requested I make them available as streams as well as downloads. So is there anybody out
