Problems with Ices
Karl, I installed icecast/ices from the latest stable ebuild on gentoo portage. It appears from the log file that ices is only version 2.0.0 even though the ebuild is version 2.1.0. I just reinstalled icecast with the newest (unstable) ebuild and it still doesn't seem to have version 2.0.1 of ices. Do you recommend that I manually compile or that I find a way to use a wrapper for ALSA to

Patch for IceS (im_alsa.c)
Hi there. I noticed that the alsa input module in IceS 2.0-Beta4 have some problems with sample rates. The problem derives from the fact that the sample rate is set by a call to snd_pcm_hw_params_set_rate_near() in the ALSA API. This means that if you specify a sample rate that your ALSA driver soes not like, ALSA will choose the nearest possible sample rate instead. In the present im_alsa.c

Server drops client - problem with IceS?
Hi there, I just joined the list and have a question on one of the earlier posts: On Oct 28 2003, Ricardo wrote that his server diconnected his clients. I have the exact same problem - and a bit of testing/analysis. <p>I am running an Icecast server and IceS on the same linux box. IceS is encoding a live stream from my sound card. After a while of listening (approx 2 mins) from another

ices 2.0.1 release
This is to announce version 2.0.1 of ices. It is a small update to 2.0.0 and is compatible to existing configurations. The most user-visible part of this update is in the ALSA input driver, which some people have reported as being a problem in some cases. You can download the tar files from http://downloads.xiph.org/releases/ices/ Summary of changes since 2.0.0 . update ALSA input . add

Ices and ALSA / OSS
Hello Karl In reference to: http://lists.xiph.org/pipermail/icecast/2004-June/007473.html I am also receiving this error with an M-Audio Audiophile 2496 device running with the ice1712 ALSA module. I've not quite figured out how to test it with a hw pcm because it isn't accepting any of my formats. I've no idea how ALSA's plug opens it but I've tried all the obvious ones,

Ices and ALSA / OSS
I'm still having trouble (after reading the archives) geting ices2.0.0 to work with ALSA (I seem to be able to do arecord just fine. I'm using the following packages (along with ices-2.0.0.tar.gz). kernel-smp-2.4.22-1.2188.nptl kernel-smp-module-alsa-1.0.4-1_2.4.22_1.2188.nptl alsa-driver-1.0.4-1 alsa-lib-1.0.4-1.1.fc1.fr alsa-lib-devel-1.0.4-1.1.fc1.fr (and a few other alsa ones, but

Ices re-encodes have died
Hi: I'm running ices on one box with three streams, one streaming as is and two re-encodes, and another box running icecast2. The straight-through stream is going strong, but the two re-encodes have died. Ices is trying to re-establish them, but it keeps saying it gets a broken pipe, as evidenced below: [2004-03-09 10:47:55] INFO encode/encode_initialise Encoder initialising in VBR mode:

Help w/ ices & ALSA
I'm currently using Icecast 2.2 w/ streams running DarkIce, under RH. I'd like to try Ices, but so far am completely striking out. My soundcard has ALSA drivers installed, but no matter what combination of settings I use in my config file, Ices won't start and I get the error: "input/input_loop Couldn't initialise input module "alsa" Can anyone give me direction

Problems with Ices
I am having problems getting Ices to work with ALSA. If I use arecord (arecord -D plughw:0,0 output.wav) I can record the input from my microphone into a file. The playback works perfectly. However, if I use Ices with the same values I hear nothing on the receiving end of my broadcast (although I can connect to it). In order to do a further test, I setup a <savefile> tag in my

FreeBSD v5.2.1-RELEASE and Ices 2.0.0...
Hi, It didn't take long for me to break it again... I've compiled everything as documented, but when I run ices after a second or so the process coredumps with: May 13 22:14:42 streamer kernel: pid 681 (ices), uid 0: exited on signal 11 (core dumped) I've got a ices.core file if anyone can analyse it for me, I'm using the FreeBSD OSS 398e. <p>Once again, can anyone point

Is something wrong with ices 2.0-kh60a?
Hiya Karl (and everybody else), I noticed today that ices 2.0-kh60a came out last January, and opted to give it a try. Unfortunately, it just wouldn't work at all, so I had to back down to 2.0-kh60. What I get in my log is this: [2006-04-21 21:16:18] DBUG om_shout/check_shout_connected Time we started stream on ice.imars.net:8000/cigr.ogg [2006-04-21 21:16:19] EROR

Newbie problem with ices2
Hi all, I'm fairly new to icecast / ices - been using icecast (2.2.0) to stream audio files for a few weeks, it works very well, now I'm trying to add live feeds via ices (v2.0.1). I've built and installed (on SuSE 9.3 platform) with no apparent errors, copied ices-alsa.xml to user area and modified paths, server password etc. When I run ices (using "ices
