Announcing Version 2.0.0 of Icecast
After many years of development and testing, icecast has finally moved to
2.0.0.
What's new in 2.0 ?
* completely rewritten codebase from 1.x - highly efficient and low
memory usage.
* addition of new media types (Ogg Vorbis) and a framework to add new
ones easier. Icecast still supports MP3 streaming as well (including
shoutcast-style metadata)
* a web-based administration

Icecast 2.2.0 RC1 Announcement
Looks like I missed a config file entry for the shoutcast-compat.xml,
you'll need to add :
<shoutcast-mount>/stream.nsv</shoutcast-mount>
to your config. It needs to exist at the main root level... for context
here is where I have it :
<directory>
<yp-url-timeout>15</yp-url-timeout>

registering icecast server in shoutcast directory?
I'm running darkice-0.15 to stream live mp3 encoded audio to
icecast2-2.2.0_1,1 on a FreeBSD 4.10 machine and everything is
working great. Now that I have my icecast stream server set up, I would
like to register it in the shoutcast directory. Is this possible? I
see the icecast.xml entries to register with the xiph.org and
oddsock.org directory servers, but I can't find any examples

icecast acceptable headers
the problem is probably that nsvcap most likely tries to attach using the
"shoutcast source" protocol, which is some strange variation of HTTP (but
definitely not HTTP).... It's strange-ness and non-HTTP-ness is the reason
why icecast doesn't support connecting the Shoutcast DSP to it. So I don't
think any magical combination of headers will get live NSV

relaying IceCast from ShoutCast
This is killing me...
I've tried everything I can think of, but Icecast still crashes if I define
more than 10 listen-socket ports. Is there a limit that's not documented or
is this a bug? I'm using the latest Windows build that OddSock compiled.
Thanks for any help/ideas

stream to icecast and shoutcast
Hello,
I would need an advice on how to change the setup of my streaming server.
The box is an AMD Sempron 2800+ 512MB of RAM, nvidia nforce2 chipset, running on an OpenBSD 3.7.
Changing the OS is the last thing I am prepared to do.
The system is runing icecast 2.2.0 and Darkice 0.15beta (live streaming). Because POSIX scheduling is not supported in OpenBSD (darkice message on startup) I am

Icecast 2.2.0 RC1 Announcement
Great Job ! ;)
Are you planning to :
- correct the metadata problem when you're relaying an icecast v1 server
? (our radio totaly depend on icecast v1...)
- add an option to enable backup streams only when the primary one is
done ? I mean that if a defined two mountpoint that are relaying
different stream (from a primary and a secondary server) and define the
backup option to the second

Can't connect winamp source to icecast server
Gidday,
I have a winamp 2.95 source that cannot upload the stream to my icecast
server.
Since icecast is compatible with shoutcast surely a winamp source should
be able to connect?
any help appreciated,
Greg
My icecast.xml follows:
<icecast>
<limits>
<clients>100</clients>
<sources>2</sources>

relaying IceCast from ShoutCast
I forgot something!
We also have a even lower quality MP3 stream, so I need 44 listen-socket
ports, not 22. The plan of moving Icecast to the "radio" servers will work
because it's still under 10 (8).

Re-Assembling SongData in Icecast Streams..
Right... I understand how the stream works and we have no confusion at
all then.
So I need to create a script to re-inject MP3 Metadata from my
handy-dandy XML file (when it changes) which is easily done if, as you
say, there're a few variables that the admin.cgi can listen for (of
course Icecast has no admin.cgi)
The info you've provided for Shoutcast is useful and you allude to

Icecast 2.2.0 RC1 Announcement
Just wanted to let everyone know that we are prepping for a 2.2.0
release of icecast. Just as before, we are doing Release candidates
first, and if no bugs are reported, these will become the official
release. We ask that anyone that can, please test the RC and send any
issues or bug-reports to the mailing list or http://trac.xiph.org/
until the mirrors get updated, please download the release
