Icecast / liveice quandry
i know with icecast2/ices , karl heyes has some example config files for
mixing live/static content ( if i recall correctly ) .
however, what i had done in the past is add the static file to the .pls
prior to the live mount . if you generate the .pls files on demand , this
would work . ALSO , i'm quite sure that both icecast1/2 support
intro/outtro files , etc .. this may achieve the same

liveice sending horrible static noise?
Please excuse my ignorance, what is a mixice program?
I am using LAME. So in lifeice.cfg:
USE_LAME3 lame
I did try forcing byte-swapping in LAME by setting ENCODER_ARGS in the
liveice.cfg file, though I may have done it wrong

Liveice & Icecast...help
One possibility is that Lame is using the wrong endianess for your
system try changing NUMBER_LITTLE_ENDIAN to NUMBER_BIG_ENDIAN in
liveice.h and rebuilding.
The default distribution of Lame uses big endia samples on IO, which
means that in raw input mode it needs the -x arg to be set. However -
some 'helpful' people have made this the default on some
distributions.... so when liveice

I've been trying to figure out as to why sometimes connections are
properly negotiated and sometimes not.
For example, using mpg123 as a client, I point it at my server

I've done this and it works great. But there are drawbacks. If the
player client is in random track mode, the player may play the live
stream first, and never the static content.
I've always wanted an option to have a static file(s) presented to the
client before the live stream. Having it done on the server would make
sure that whatever the static content was it couldn't be

liveice Question
Ok, is this possible: I want to have a 128k and a 24k stream of a
particualr audio program, plugged into the line in of my Ensoniq AudioPCI
128 (es1370 chipset) Is there any way to do this with just one soundcard,
or do I need two?
Thanks

Multiple Mountpoints Problem
Hello,
I've searched far and wide on the net and the only thing I've come up
with is that no one has ever had this problem.
I'm running Icecast 1.3.12 and the latest liveice on a Slackware 8.1
box. The idea here is that I need to stream a live source in multiple
bitrates. I am having a problem that is just about going to send me
back to Shoutcast.
I have set up two

Problem with dual streaming
I've been using liveice to feed an encoded stream to an icecast broadcast
server. Now I want to feed two streams at the same time to the broadcast
server.
To acomplish that I am using a dual soundcard setup in a debian linux
server.
I've setup two different mountpoints in the icecast server wich will receive
the stream and in turn will broadcast the streams to the listeners.

Liveice & Icecast...help
Yes, I downloaded the aumix utility and am using it now. Set line in to %50
then %25 and to record but still the same thing. I'm streaming from the
line in on the sound card which is being fed from a portable radio nearby.
I get the distortion whether I have the audio fed into 'line in' or not.

liveice Question
Works just fine - though it might not be documented (seems like this info
was dropped from the sample liveice.cfg file in the later distributions).
Basically, at the end of liveice.cfg add the line:
ENCODER_STREAM_SET 1
then define the values that would be different on the 2nd stream, ie:
NAME Scott's 24kb/s stream
SERVER xxxx.yyy.com
PORT 80xx
PASSWORD (if different than 128k)
BITRATE

Liveice & Icecast...help
Decided to switch to OpenBSD 2.8 as I'm a bit more familiar with it.
Everything seems to compile just fine except liveice. I get this error when
running make.

Now it seems pretty obvious why this failed, but I

And about that keepalive script.. Would you (or someone) be willing to

icecast + liveice won't play nicely
I have gotten icecast and live ice both up and
running, but I cannot get them to play nicely
together. I have the following in my configs:

liveice:

but when I run both of them using:
./icecast

liveice problem
Hello everybody...
I figure this is not exactly an icecast question, but maybe
someone might be able to help.
Icecast runs nicely as far as I can see, and so does liveice,
apart from the fact I don't get any input signal fed into it. I
think it's due to the fact it expects the signal on line in by
default and the souncard only has a mic in. So I tried to use
the built in mixer mode,

question on downsampling
Hi,
Maybe a bit off topic for this list, bt anyway.
I have received several feature requests for DarkIce to support
downsampling of the audio input before passing it to lame or ogg vorbis.
For example the audio read from the soundcard would be 44.1kHz, and lame
would get it at 22.05kHz.
I figure two ways of doing this:
1. For lame, one can specify the input and the desired mp3 sampling
rate,

Hopefully somebody out there has a "doh" for this one. My

exten => 36225,n,Background(telbank/${ABA}/${CHANNEL(language)}/thetimeis)

AR after_initialize quandry
I have a case where I am abstracting the creation of models. After a
fair bit of indirection, I eventually get around to making a .new call.
I need to be able to pass params to that .new call.
I know I can''t use def initialize() in an AR model (rather frustrating).
So, I have found some references to after_initialize, but that doesn''t
work either.
I see several threads on
