Uh, WinAmp 2 with Oddsock? You'll probably want an EQ-plugin though, since WinAmp's default isn't great. >From: assorgia@tin.it >Reply-To: icecast@xiph.org >To: icecast@xiph.org >Subject: [icecast] Live stream equalizer >Date: Thu, 30 Oct 2003 10:40:00 +0100 > >Question 2: > >I've been asked to stream a live event (no music, just talking). the

equalizer api
Somebody reported a bug against zinf that the equalizer did not work with oggvorbis streams. Upon looking, I noticed that while the mp3 decoder (xing) has an equalizer interface to modify the decoding, I could not find an equivalent for ogg. Does the beast exist? Should it? Vorbis decoders and equalizer
When I activate the equalizer in WinAmp, QCD, and Sonic Foundry SIREN Jukebox, I get a funny "washed out" sound to it. Vorbis sounds fine without it, but I miss the extra bass and what-not. I was wondering why this happens? --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project homepage: http://www.xiph.org/ogg/ To unsubscribe from this list, send a message to

OddcastDSP/Winamp2
Sorry for the long rave. I write Windows software for broadcasters (Radio & Internet) and in a newsletter I send out to my streaming clients I was recommending Ogg Vorbis/IceCast2 as the streaming solution for the future. All of my clients are using Windows and a lot of them are using Winamp2 for their broadcasting. Currently they would be forced to use the OddCastDSP. One client who should

Winamp equalizer problems
I just wanted to know if anyone has noticed a difference between MP3 and OGG encoded files when having the Winamp equalizer switched on? I seem to be missing bass and the sound doesn't fill the room as much with OGG. With the EQ turned off there is no discernable difference between both LAME and Vorbis encoded files (both at an average of 192 kbps). Is this an error with the OGG Winamp plugin?

omega crawler: ht://dig or wget?
At wiki page: http://wiki.xapian.org/Omega I added a comment that ht://Dig looks like dead. Does anybody really use it? >From brief glance at docs I had a feeling it is not easy to configure. Maybe better crawler is GNU wget? Mature, stable, maintained? -- Peter Masiar

What kind of Ogg Vorbis-services you would like to h ave?
I know this is a little OT for the list and blatent advertising but inkeeping with the thread topic, I've just finished a Windows playlist generator for internet/radio stations. Suitable for highly automated situations. Features anti-song repeat & anti-artist repeat options. No song maintenance required. Works on a rotation or "clock" basis. Produces a personalised HTML

Targeted Ads
Seasons greetings! I was wondering if anyone had investigated or started any development using Icecast2 for targeting advertisements to individual listeners. This will be the next revolution in online radio and it has already started. There are several solutions at the moment, but they all seem too difficult and expensive and most of them seem to require custom software at the listeners

Wanted: Ogg Stations Directory
I've been thinking, yes not a good thing sometimes. I want to listen to Ogg Vorbis streams. As far as I know there is only the yp directory on Oddsocks website to easily find vorbis streams in one place, but it doesn't reflect the actual number of streams in existance. A carefully worded goggle search turns up quite a few more but it is time consuming to load every website, find the

Proxy ARP with a Coyote Point equalizer
Here is a puzzle. I have a network with several servers. It''s a mess. It''s a /24 and pieces and servers are all over the place inside this /24 block, on both sides of the firewall. For example, the router at 1.2.3.1 is outside the firewall and many of the servers at 1.2.3.nnn/24 are behind the firewall. (Obviously, 1.2.3.nnn is a fudged network.) eth0 points outward to

AACPlus Shoutcast v1.90
OK, I've organized this. It's not possible to average 32kb/s stereo with Vorbis using VBR. Quality -2 stereo proeduces roughly 32 to 38kb/s which is too high for many modems. I would have to use ABR, but last I tried that, it utilized too much CPU for my 950Mhz PC, and oddcast doesn't appear to support that option anymore. I've tried AACPlus 32kb/s mono and there is very

Ok, I read the Read Me. So icyx://boa.mediacast1.com:9292/stream.aac works. I don't understand why the http syntax cannot be made to work. This works fine for Ogg Vorbis streams using the Illumination DirectShow filter. http/cgi metadata updating
I heard that Icecast 2.2 now supports metadata updating via http for vorbis streams. We are adding http metadata support into our broadcasting software for the next release. Can someone point me to a link for the syntax, or is it identical to the Shoutcast syntax? http://www.host.com:port/admin.cgi?pass=Password&mode=updinfo&song=Artist_Title&url=http://someurl.com Has there been
