I was under the impression that "PCM equalizer" means it only equalizes the PCM codec, i.e. WAV files. Have you noticed a significant quality improvement in the EQ for compressed media: MP3, Vorbis, MPC? When I activate the equalizer in WinAmp, QCD, and Sonic Foundry SIREN Jukebox, I get a funny "washed out" sound to it. Vorbis sounds fine without it, but I miss the extra bass and what-not. Somebody reported a bug against zinf that the equalizer did not work with oggvorbis streams. Upon looking, I noticed that while the mp3 decoder (xing) has an equalizer interface to modify the decoding, I could not find an equivalent for ogg. Does the beast exist? Should it? I just wanted to know if anyone has noticed a difference between MP3 and OGG encoded files when having the Winamp equalizer switched on? I seem to be missing bass and the sound doesn't fill the room as much with OGG. With the EQ turned off there is no discernable difference between both LAME and Vorbis encoded files (both at an average of 192 kbps). Is this an error with the OGG Winamp plugin?
