version confusion
You're right, the "version issue" is a mess. But it should be
considerably improved within the next few days. Barring surprises,
libshout 2.0 will be officially released Monday (including perl and
python bindings).
At the same time, ices 0.3 will be released, which does compile with
libshout 2.0 (and features a million bug fixes over ices 0.2.3). The

Upgrade Samba 2.2.6 to 2.2.8 by novice
Hi,
I would like to install SWAT to administer Samba on my Mandrake 9.0 server.
The Swat file is ver 2.2.8 while my Samba is version 2.2.6. The installation
aborts because of version differences.
I have tried to upgrade Samba to version 2.2.8 but run into other problems
with dependencies. Am I correct in thinking that I have to uninstall Samba
first and then re-install the later version? And if

strange issue with xerox printer: unable to configure driver
Hello list.
I've a strange issue with a samba 3.4.3 print server. Everything is fine
with most printers, meaning drivers are assigned on server side and
automatically distributed to the clients as expected. However, I fail to
configure a Xerox document center 7435 the same way.
When I attempt to assign a driver to the printer, from a windows client
with admin privileges, I get an

[PATCH 1/9] Partially fix --disable-erlang
From: Michael Scherer <misc at zarb.org>
Without this, configure will always enable erlang, no matter what
argument are passed. Now, we can disable it, even if configure still
need the erlang compiler for some obscure reason.

Master Login using MySQL problem - %{login_domain}
Hi Timo,
Been trying to track this problem down further. The problem seems to be
related to verifying the master user failing.
My passdb looks like this:
passdb {
driver = sql
args = /etc/dovecot/dovecot-domain-owner-sql.conf
master = yes
pass = yes
}
dovecot-domain-owner-sql.conf contains:
user_query = SELECT user_name, domain_name FROM users WHERE user_name =

Is there a buffer or cache setting in samba?
Hi.
Can anyone tell me if samba has any settings that determine how much data
gets cached or buffered in RAM before being written to the computer's hard
drives?
I'm having a strange problem and I suspect that the explanation has to do
with that kind of setting.
I am using a Linux system (P4-3.06 Ghz, 1 GB RAM, 2.4.22 kernel, samba
2.2.8a) to store video and audio files that can

Special handling of IAX circuit-busy vs busy
Hello, we've had an Asterisk solution working for quite awhile. Today our
IAX2 carrier started reporting circuit-busy to all calls for approximately
an hour, which is different than a busy condition. I'm guessing that this
indicates the carrier was having an outage, or was handling too many
concurrent IAX2 calls.
Is there a way to change our dialplan to fail to PSTN in case Dial(*)

Using icecast2 with MP3 problems
I've downloaded and compiled icecast from cvs and the ices-0.2.3 from
the download area for MP3 support.. (I'd use ogg, except I have 1000's
of mp3. I'll re-rip them, but not today) 8)
Is there a particular version of the icecast2 server that works w/ the
ices-0.2.3 I'm using? I'm having difficulty getting the two to
communicate.

Well, is ices 0.2.3 still being supported?
Because I still can't get it to compile on the PPC
even with new version of LAME and ogg

Some diffs to libshout for MacOSX
Brendan,
Thanks for applying these patches - that's great.
We're about to release the latest version of our SndKit frameworks, which
require libshout to be installed in order to compile. Up until now we have
provided the set of patches that we sent to you, and instructed people to
download the iceS-0.2.2 package, apply the patches, and compile from there.
What we'd prefer though
