OT: compiling oddcast DSP
Hi, There's a rather serious problem with the Oddcast DSP for Winamp, when you stream in vorbis format over icecast2, it drops ~ 1/2 sec of near the beginning of every song except the first. I tracked this down, it turns out oddcast drops the last vorbis page of every stream. (The DSP doesn't receive the new metadata until after the song has been playing for a second or two, which is

Winamp v5.22 / oddcast / aac+
Something else, Greg. Are you aware of any 3G / 2.5G (EDGE) clients for mobile phones that support AAC+ streaming? Be it java or symbian based. Yea, It's VERY possbile to have the encoder sit idle until a User connects - we do that with our WMA encoders and where thinking of applying it to mp3 and ogg - however therein lies the problem - instead of PULL streaming you are PUSH streaming - and the server MUST see a source connected otherwise it will not allow a client to connect - Bryan ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ross

well, if I manually update the metadata via oddcast and enter "M? ire Brennan - I L??thair D??", then check the icecast2 status page, I see : Current Song: M?ire Brennan - I L?thair D? which I presume is correct. If I then open this stream with winamp, it displays as : M - I L?thair D?. If I look at the file properties, the vorbis winamp plugin tells me there are two comment

Hmm, maybe it could work somehow if we're using quality-based VBR- encoding? If you have silence only very few bandwidth is needed. But I really personally dislike all these VBR-things ... so thats why I would never try implementing it :-) If you want to try to do it this way you might have to write a dsp- plugin that loads Oddcast DSP "behind" itself and passes audio through.

Multiple Winamp/Oddcast processes
Hello Oddsock and interested parties. Our first multiple stream test broadcast today on one PC and found one problem with the Oddcast plugin. We have multiple Winamps installed in separate folders and are loading each Winamp with a different Windows class name, so that each one may be controlled with external software via Windows messages. The problem is that all streams are sending the same

Icecast + oddcast + voice
Hi! It's a bit not on list topic, but i'm trying to get some voice from microphone in my icecast2 transmissions. I use icecastv2+oddcastv2+xmms (1.2.10). I've been trying to get voice via recorder plugin, but it didn't work. Normally I can record from mic, but i can't get it under xmms. Does anybody have any suggestions how to make microphone input work under xmms?

Winamp v5.22 / oddcast / aac+
I believe that Oddsock is using a Content Type of aacp. Using a .aac extension with this Content Type may present a conflict. This might actually be by design. I will do some further testing with Winamp and report here tomorrow. I will also double-check with the developer of Winamp for complete clarification. FYI, Orban Opticodec-PC allows the use of either Content Type of aac or aacp. aac is

Thats a damn good idea, client connects, player sends request, server responds to dsp encoder says hey i need a stream, dsp says ACK ill send ya a stream.

Dave St John Mediacast1 Administration (720) 641-7586 ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ross Levis" <ross@stationplaylist.com> To: <icecast@xiph.org> Sent: Friday, June 20, 2003 6:53 PM

OddCastDSPv2 + Winamp 2.91 + SQRSoft crossfader
Hey Oddsock I couldn't find your email address so sorry for posting to the list. I know we've had a similar discussion in the past but I'm hoping something can be arranged to solve this problem. I've just tried your new OddCastv2 (for Winamp2) with the SQRSoft crossfader hoping that the old problem had been overcome, however, it is much worse. Winamp simply exits without any

Winamp v5.22 / oddcast / aac+
Ok, it's not as bad as I thought. With some investigation and discussion with a "Major Dude" in the Winamp forums, it appears to be a bug in Winamp v5.22 with streams that end with the mountpoint extension .aac. I changed the mountpoint to end with .aacp and now it works fine. Regards, Ross. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ross Levis"

I don't develop in C unfortunately, but I think I've thought of another way of doing it for those using Winamp. A DSP plugin could be developed to read /admin/streamlist to get number of listeners. If listeners is zero then zero the audio data. Place this in front of the OddCast DSP. I'm not exactly sure what is possible with a DSP plugin. Someone else may know if the audio data

oddcast plugin behaviors
hi oddsock, Your oddcast plugin is very good, currently is able to connect to icecast, icecast2 and shotcast servers; that's way is very usefull. Well, I know you know all that... :-) But I have some problems with it:
1-The plugin always try to attach to winamp, so when winamp is minimized or moved, oddcast's window does it too. At this point, all ok. What about if the plugin

the "Adv. Rec"-option in the oddcast-plugin for winamp doesn't work on my machine (winxp with winamp 2.81 and the latest oddcast version). it seams to be buggy. i can enable it (green led lights), but nothing happens. and when i disable it winamp crashes down. there is also no configuration to select a soundcard input channel (i am using rme hdsp with 8 analog, 9 digital

Winamp v5.22 / oddcast / aac+
I'm not sure if this is an icecast issue or oddcast issue or both, but the latest Winamp (v5.22) is not now playing AAC+ streams encoded with Oddcast. Winamp v5.21 and earlier versions work fine. This may be some attempt by Winamp developers to force people to use Shoutcast, or to prevent oddcast from using their enc_aacplus.dll. Right, just took some time to set up the Shoutcast DSP to

Oddcast not working with WinAmp 5.01
Does Oddcast have any Windows98 dependancies that I might be missing after doing a reformat? Can't think of what else might be wrong... =( - Chris >From: "Christopher G" <djmoguta@hotmail.com> >Reply-To: icecast@xiph.org >To: icecast@xiph.org >Subject: Re: [icecast] Oddcast not working with WinAmp 5.01 >Date: Wed, 14 Jan 2004 08:43:18 -0500 >
