Newbie Problem
Hi all! I just finished an install of icecast/iceS but I'm having problems. I followed the documentation provided here: http://melmoth.dyndns.org/stream/doc/ to the letter and this is the problem I'm having: Everything seems to function (icecast runs, iceS runs) and it generates messages such as: [root@icecast stream]# bin/ices conf/ices-playlist.xml [2003-06-04 06:43:17] INFO

Problems getting Ices2 to work with live input.
I've got icecast2 and ices2 working with a playlist of ogg files and it works fine. I've been playing for a few days with getting my audio to work at all. I've now got my audio where I can play an ogg file from ogg123 -d oss filename.ogg. When I run ices ices-live.xml I get the following error in my log file: [2004-09-30 09:38:07] INFO ices-core/main IceS 2.0.0 started...

ices2 routinely abandons one of its streams
Hi everybody, I'm in charge of an ices2 setup that's broadcasting a local radio station on the Net, and I'm currently under fire because one of our streams has been down twice in two days, forcing me to restart ices2 on each occasion. Our client is understandably unhappy about this. OUR SETUP: I've got ices2 installed on a local machine, broadcasting to an icecast server across

problem with latest ices CVS release?
Just downloaded the latest ices from CVS. I'm getting an error that I haven't seen before. I had things working fine just a few days ago. Here's my standard ices.xml file. I tried several different configs using the distribution examples as well and still got errors. [root@pluto conf]# ices /usr/local/icecast2/conf/ices-live.xml & [2] 22247 [root@pluto conf]# [2003-02-02

Unable to use playlist module in ices
I have just downloaded from anoncvs@xiph.org the ogg, vorbis, icecast, and ices modules. I compiled and installed all four modules without any errors. I seem to have icecast working correctly (no errors in the logs), but I cannot get ices started. I receive the following errors in the log file: [2001-11-09 07:04:54] EROR playlist-builtin/playlist_open_module No playlist type given, cannot

Hi, Is it possible to generate an ogg stream at less than 22KBps ? I tried several configuration with ices and darkice, but I always get an configure encoder error: [2003-03-17 16:07:17] INFO input-oss/oss_open_module Opened audio device /dev/dsp at 2 channel(s), 44100 Hz [2003-03-17 16:07:17] INFO audio/resample_initialise Initialised resampler for 2 channels, from 44100 Hz to 22050 Hz

Thanks Karl, I will give it a try. Do I have to install your modified libshout or isn't it required if I am live streaming? [Fwd: Re: Newbie Problem]
Mike, Even though it plays the test .ogg file I have fine and plays other ShoutCast streams fine ? Sorry for the stupid questions but I'm a Linux sysadmin who's never done streaming audio like this before. Thanks for the input. ----------------------------------- Todd Brill mailto:tbrill@rackforce.com Linux Network Engineer Rackforce Hosting Inc. http://www.rackforce.com

Ices crashes all of a sudden: EROR input-oss/oss_read Error reading from audio device: Input/output error
It was kind of working for a while but I could not hear the stream but it was running. I started messing with alsamixer and now it crashes. I see the error but I don't know how to fix it. ices-oss-xml: (alsa is the same just a different input module) <?xml version="1.0"?> <ices> <!-- run in background --> <background>0</background>

[Fwd: Re: Newbie Problem]
This is what I was sorta complaining about - the documentation is lacking. I still don't comprehend how the mountpoints work at all. Can anyone explain to me how they work ? Does the mountpoint point to a local file/folder or is it something else ? The example configurations just confuse matters. Thanks. ----------------------------------- Todd Brill mailto:tbrill@rackforce.com Linux

Are there many cards in this category? I'dve thought that all cards would support 44100, it being the standard that it is. Your comments however suggest experience of this problem. Problems with Ices
Karl, I installed icecast/ices from the latest stable ebuild on gentoo portage. It appears from the log file that ices is only version 2.0.0 even though the ebuild is version 2.1.0. I just reinstalled icecast with the newest (unstable) ebuild and it still doesn't seem to have version 2.0.1 of ices. Do you recommend that I manually compile or that I find a way to use a wrapper for ALSA to
