Live Streaming Problem
Me again....
After getting regular playlist streaming working, I'm not trying to
complete the project and implement the live streaming. Unfortunately, due
to the sad, lacking documentation for icecast and ices (especially what
the xml tags in the configuration files actually DO and how they can be
used), I've run into another snag that only you guys can help me out with.
Here it goes.

Mike,
Making those changes, I now get a 404 error. Here is my error.log:

solved: building icecast2 on OpenBSD
Icecast2 compiles on OpenBSD 3.2 with the steps outlined by Moritz (thanks for
that). I'm running into problems streaming ogg files from the fileserve
directory, although serving mp3 files from the same directory happens without a
hitch...again, both work fine on a Debian system. I'll try building the ogg and
vorbis libraries from source to see if that fixes anything (they are

don't use Winamp 3. it doesn't work with ogg. try Winamp 2.8 instead or
even better Foobar2000.

[Fwd: Re: Newbie Problem]
Mike,
Even though it plays the test .ogg file I have fine and plays other ShoutCast
streams fine ?
Sorry for the stupid questions but I'm a Linux sysadmin who's never done
streaming audio like this before.
Thanks for the input.

Re-5: Newbie-Question
Hi!
The icecast-server seems to work though I didn't manage to play music:
This is my config file for the intended playlist:
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<ices>
<background>0</background> <!-- run in background? (unimplemented) -->
<logpath>/tmp</logpath> <!-- where logs, etc go. -->

(was, streaming both ogg and mp3) now, sending out 3 streams
Hmmm, I guess more is incorrect here than I thought. I changed the
resample in-rate to be 44100 like it should have have been.
But still no joy. Here is the error message as shown in the error.log
file. I'm looking things over and am not seeing my error.
It looks like the audio resample for this particular stream is good.

some help
Hello all
I am sending my icecast configuration. What i am trying to
do is 'live stream' so as to be able to broadcast radio
live on my website. I am using icecast as the server and
ices as the streamer. Below is the configuration for
icecast and following it is my configuration for ices. I
cannot seem to find out where i went wrong.

[Fwd: Re: Newbie Problem]
This is what I was sorta complaining about - the documentation is lacking. I
still don't comprehend how the mountpoints work at all. Can anyone explain to
me how they work ? Does the mountpoint point to a local file/folder or is it
something else ? The example configurations just confuse matters.
Thanks.

Problems streaming Ogg Vorbis with icecast2+ices
Hello,
Perhaps it is a typical question but i've got stuck. I'm using icecast2+ices
to stream some ogg vorbis files or voice_in_life (/dev/dsp) over the
network/internet.
All seems to work fine, for example using:
ogg123 http://127.0.0.1:8000/mount
works :). And:
ogg123 http://my_internet_ip:8000/mount
works too from another pc over internet and far away :).
Using mplayer works fine

dual streaming example
Just wanted to share with everyone a working dual-streaming config
based on Geoff Shang's dual streaming example. With this I am sending
two separate streams; one at 96 KBPS and at 41 KHZ and the other at 33
KBPS and at 22 KHZ. At least, this is what I see when I connect using
XMMS-1.2.7. It works and sounds great. I had a small problem getting the
sample rate just right, but this works VERY

Unable to use playlist module in ices
I have just downloaded from anoncvs@xiph.org the ogg, vorbis, icecast,
and ices modules. I compiled and installed all four modules without any
errors. I seem to have icecast working correctly (no errors in the
logs), but I cannot get ices started. I receive the following errors in
the log file:

ices2 and Icecast2 on debian configuration question
Hi there,
I have a Debian sarge 512 MB RAM machine with icecast2 and ices2 that I
installed via aptitude. I have a 3MBit/s download and 800KBit/s upload
link.
I would like to configure icecast2 and ices2 properly.
Here is my situation:
1)I have a dtdns address omac.darktech.org
2)icecast2 and ices2 on port 8000 would be fine.
3)I simply want to broadcast my 6 year old niece's voice which

Icecast source number problem, ices frozen after reconnect attemps failure (icecastkh13 iceskh48)
Hello,
I had a problem with ices kh48 and icecastkh13. I usually restart them by cron at 00:00.

This night, icecast told ices "Too many sources" for radio-bro-gwened.ogg...
All right, I've just seen that my config file is wrong for icecast (I have 3 sources):
<sources>2</sources>
But, with this configuration, I can have 3 sources:
