I am using Icecast 2. I found the status.xsl files, but to be honest I'm
not quite sure what to do with them

Encode on fly from device?
Hello,
I'm looking for ideas here. I'm sure it's easy, but cant quite get what I
need.
I am looking for a way to encode everything from the soundcard into a
.ogg, on the fly. Basically I want to be able to record and convert
directly to a compressed file. Since this will be running constantly, I
would also like to be able to listen to the file during this time.
I know oggenc can use

no metadata?
Hello,
I've added metadata information in my ices config; a generic name under
stream, and individual under each instance. when looking at status2.xsl,
it doesn't show any stream name or information.
Also, I uncommented the stuff for oddsock's yp server, but it never shows
on the page.
Am I missing something somewere?
Thanks,
Bryan

I hope so :)
I'm not too good with C or anything like that, so the sourcecode would
probably be a bit confusing.

Thanks Geoff. I've e-mailed him directly (not knowing if I should though)
but if anyone else can point me to the code I would be much appreciative

icecast2, ogg, mp3, etc
Hi,
Just wanted to clarify, can icecast2 not read OR broadcast any mp3, or
can it just not broadcast mp3 (but still play from a playlist)? I know the
quality would be dropped if it had to reencode them though.
And what's up with that POS Winamp3, it doesn't even play gg streams?!?
I use xmms, but we have winamp3 on a demo computer, it just sits and keeps
prebuffering. I need something

general questions
Okay, just to satisfy my mind, can someone give me a rundown on what the
other things do (other than the streaming portion)
admin root
web root
by setting these I'm not sure what to put in there or how to access
them...
and how to use the xsl files? I still cannot find anything on it.
Sorry if it all sounds stupid, it's just been rather difficult to find
what I am looking for
Thanks,

Icecast2yp updates / testing
I've been in playing with the icecast2yp code a little, besides getting in
on one of the next meetings about it all.
I'm just looking to have a few of you out there add some of your servers to
use the in-progress one I have going here.

Depending on my upcoming workload, hopefully I can put in some time to beef
it up some, and possibly add some

web stats and now playing
Hi:
Assuming you're using icecast2, you can get stats and "now playing"
information using XSL. There are a couple of examples shipped with
icecast2.
As for YP servers, there is one at http://www.oddsock.org/icecast2yp/ and
another at http://yp.icecast.net.
Geoff.

yp dir
Hi All,
Maybe a strange question, is there any info or maybe even an template
for setting up an yp directory!
The idea to set one up for local purpuses like: espescially dutch
languages would be nice!
Maybe an extra setting in the stream clients to also give in the
language and maybe even country of orgin of the content could be any
help with that, could be a nice extra search option too for

Directory Listings
The default configuration file for icecast comes with a directory listing for
oddsock, but not icecast.org or any others. How do I set up the xml file to
list me on icecast.org.
And on a related note, what other directorys can I list the server on?

Newbie playing with php
Hi, folks. I've installed icecast 1.3.11 and I'm very happy with
it. But I'd like to add a "now playing" gizmo to my home page;
can anyone point me to a php script or something else that does
the trick? Thanks in advance.
