Icecast/LiveIce Problems
I'm having a couple problems trying to get Icecast and LiveIce set up on a Linux 7.0 system. I'm running Icecast 1.3.10 without a config file (using all defaults). I can use shout to stream to it and connect to it from a windows machine running WinAmp. It works OK except winamp stops every few seconds and tells me that it's buffering. It buffers for a few seconds and then plays a

Icecast/LiveIce Problems
I'm sorry, I meant RedHat 7.0 of course. That machine is running kernel 2.2.14-5.0. I've tried the XMMS LiveIce plugin and XMMS cores as soon as it's enabled. Thanks for the info on buffering. xmms and icecast2
hi, I was wondering if anyone can help me. At the moment I am finishing off a project that is more or less a stream management system, kind of like a web jukebox with a time-based scheduling facility and several other 'radio-like' features... I am using xmms-shell to control the replay of ogg files. I also use noxmms to kill the gui of xmms so I can run the application from a remote

Playlist Problem (Newbie)
I just downloaded and installed the newest version of icecast. I have been using shout to stream my mp3's into icecast, and it worked ok except it kept stopping mid song and I'd have to hit the play button again on xmms to get it to work properly, but then a few minutes later it does the same thing. I downloaded ices to use instead of shout and now it won't load the playlist..?

Frustrated with Ubuntu XMMS, XMMS-Liveice, and icecast
I have XMMS and XMMS-liveice setup to use ALSA to stream audio to my icecast server using LAME encoding. I start the sound file and i can see XMMS playing away happily, icecast detects the connection and shows the source as being connected, but no bandwisth useage. If I connect to the icecast server I get a client connection, but no sound. Scanning other forums there appears that there might

connection problem
I am pretty sure that the integrity of my mp3's is okay. I know that music match shreds the mp3 data and produces mp3 files that are not ISO compliant. I always use WaveLab and the radium codec to encode my sets and enable the ISO compatibility option at all times. This problem only seemed to come about with winamp 2.7 but if sonique is doing it to, I don't know... What about relaying? Do

Icecast + oddcast + voice
Hi: If you can record your mic but it's not working in XMMS, this suggests an issue on the XMMS side. Are you invoking the XMMS Recorder plugin as detailed in the Readme? Problems streaming high bitrate over a LAN
I am trying to stream various 320kbps MP3s across my 10Mbps LAN. Either locally or across the network, freeamp and xmms prefetch a chunk, then play it, then fetch another chunk etc. No continuous streaming. shout gets a lot of !s between its "."s when sending the file to icecast. Any ideas? -- Always hardwire the explosives -- Fiona Dexter quoting Monkey, J. Gregory Keyes, Dark

Stuttering stream
This reminds me of a problem I've been having occasionally with ices... once in a while, instead of properly decoding and re-encoding the MP3 for my stream, it'll stream gibberish (basically, it sounds like a "cooked" MP3). After that, maybe 1 time out of 3, it'll segfault and crash. Even in verbose mode, ices doesn't report anything other than "resyncing".

noobie questions
That is set up via the config file and is used for accessing the stream. I do not believe there is ever any static radiofree.ogg file created. It is used for streaming purposes only. Though I could be wrong. I just have never bothered to look. Someone correct me if I am. KJ On Fri, 2003-09-12 at 16:14, Jeff Ousley wrote: > Should I actually have a "radiofree.ogg" file being >

Why is ogg123 so much slower than XMMS?
On a PII233 system running linux with ogg-vorbis-RC2, when playing a 2-min 48kbps ogg file, ogg123 takes much more CPU time than XMMS (several seconds with ogg123 vs. less than one second for all XMMS threads added up). Since the pids are the same, I am sure that XMMS did not create new threads when playing one song. I think this has to do with soundcard interaction. <p>--- >8 ----

perl libshout
Hi, I've just completed a conversion of the perl Shout-1.0 library to something that will talk to an icecast2 server. I'll be submitting the results for inclusion back to the icecast site. One thing is missing: proper metadata support. this feature has changed since icecast 1; previously it was a single string. now, it's a linked list of key/value pairs.

Help please streaming oggs as they are being created
Hi all, I often record radio shows for posterity, and sometimes I have friends who would like to listen to them live over the net. When I am recording for my own purposes, I use a command of the form: "brec | oggenc", (options omitted for clarity) and I send the output to a file, call it radio.ogg. Locally, I use Debian stable. If I want to listen to the show as I record it, I can

sluggish stream problem - help
Hi, I am a newbie here. I just tried to set up mp3 streamer server on Redhat Linux 7.2, using icecast and shout. I then tried to connect to the server, from another machine and different LAN, using xmms. And the stream is so sluggish, it gets cuts off for every 2 seconds or so. Both LANs (the server and where I am connected from) are T1. My mp3 was all encoded in 128 KBps. I then asked someone

No sound (ices-2.0.0, RH9)
Hello, I've successfully installed Icecast 2.0.0 and Ices 2.0.0 on a Compaq EvoN600C running Redhat 9. Everything runs quite well (no error loggued by Icecast or Ices), the Ices stream is seen as a source by Icecast and friends are able to listen to my radio (I see them as listeners in Icecast admin)... the problem is that they ear only silence ! Looks like the streaming is OK but Ices could
