Building Linux Audio Streaming server
Hello...
Thanks fo your contributions...The port 8000 was actually opened, but i
was using wrong command to see it opened. The server is working.
I want also to be able to stream MP3 files, does icecast 2 support that?
Let say if i use darkice instead of ices?
Also, it seems like icecast2 doesn't support multicasting, what third
party software do i need in order to be able to multicast my

libshout1-based mp3 streaming to icecast2
According to what I've read on this mailing list, it should be possible
to stream MP3 data to icecast2 using ices-0.2.3, which I assume also
should be the case for any other streaming client based on libshout1. So I
decided to test this out to see if we really could dispense with
icecast1 altogether on the server I help administer. My results were not
promising, to say the least.
I wiped out

ices stops connecting to server after 24hours
G'day Karl,
I've been using your multiple instance version ices-2.0-kh43 for live
streaming from my soundcard.
After about 24 hours, connection to my icecast server is lost - checking
my netstat I see that the connection is in "CLOSE_WAIT" status - this seems to
stop it from being able to reconnect. Here is some sample ices.log
output:

Building IceS 0.4
I wound up finding and using an IceS augmentation called Centova Cast,
which built, made and installed without a single error on my 64-bit
system. It's IceS 0.4 with a couple additions. It's running now and
behaving as it should, so this might be a solution for you as well.
The install script is intense. It downloads everything you need,
resolves dependencies, installs them, logs

ices refuses to load. It whines about libmp3lame.so.0 being missing. I
found the message in the archives that supposedly forces ices to compile

Possible ICES/Icecast bug
Hi,
I wonder if you can help. I am running Icecast 2.4.4, Ices 2.0.2 and
libshout 2.4.3. There has been a recent upgrade to libshout and I
notice that my previous ices configuration no longer works. In the
ices log I get the error message:

Libshout compiles fine, but ices wont configure correctly. It wouldn't
find shout_new in libshout, lame_encode_flush_nogap in mp3lame
nor ov_open in libvorbisfile.. (nor is libtool found, but I copied it
from libshout.)

thanks...
Icecast doesn't log this problem.
the icecast.log file (icecast.log) hasn't been updated for some time
only the stats.* and useage.log have changed

I've had the same issue. Must not be many subscribers or they've moved on
to some other list.
I switched to the linux Shoutcast for my server (much more reliable) and am
looking for a replacement for ices that reliably re-encodes VBR. Let me
know if you find anything.
BTW...maybe if you posted your config files for ices and icecast i could
compare it with mine (or my old one for

Well, is ices 0.2.3 still being supported?
Because I still can't get it to compile on the PPC
even with new version of LAME and ogg

audio streaming server
Hello...
I'm involved in a project whereby a live audio input from the FM radio
station is to be sent to an audio streaming server, which will stream
the audio to the remote sites thru the VSAT (satellite based) network.
The remote sites are to rebroadcast the transmissions (FM station
rebroadcast), as most of the expected listeners do not have access to the
internet.
Is icecast2 capable of
