Playlist containing both MP3 and OGG
Hello, I have both MP3 and OGG in my hard drive, since I used to use MP3 encoding and now I'm trying to move to OGG vorbis. I am wondering if there's a way to stream a playlist containing both MP3 and OGG files. As far as I understand from reading the doc, Ices-0.4 and Ices2 can only stream MP3 and OGG files respectively. So I just installed both. But is there a trick or something

Re-encoding vorbis/ogg format on the fly
Hi, Just one quick question. Can ices re-encode vorbis/ogg format on the fly? I know it can do that with mp3 format, but what about vorbis/ogg format? Thanks. Reuben D. ices configure can't find lame library
Hi all I'd like to install ices with re-encoding support. So I installed the latest stable lame from source. However, when I configure ices using --with-lame option, it couldn't find the lame library. I specified --with-lame-libraries=/usr/local/lame/lib --with-lame-includes=/usr/local/lame/include/lame, and it still couldn't find it. I tried all kind of combination for specifying

re-encoding on the fly?
I've written up a nice streaming jukebox so I can listen to my mp3's and ogg's from anywhere with a net connection. I even got it set up so you can re-encode mp3's on the fly by calling lame and using stdout as the output. I've found a program ( http://www.inf.ufpr.br/~rja00/ogg.html ) called ogg2ogg which basically is oggenc combined with oggdec, allowing you to

MP3/OGG/The whole thing
Hello all Icecasters! I'm using icecast 1.3.12 and iceS 0.2.3 (with a self-made patch for VBR MP3, and an extensive Perl script for automatisation) to stream radio. Works great! I've tried to understand everything about MP3/OGG and Icecast and since I'm a stupid person I need to draw things all the time ;) - so I need you to tell me if I've misunderstood anything in this scheme:

Blacklisted packages still logged
Hello, Pardon me if this turns out to be stupid question. I have an IP address blacklisted in /etc/shorewall/blacklist. I have BLACKLIS_LOGLEVEL not set in /etc/shorewall/shorewall.conf, but I can still see the packages coming from the blacklisted IP logged in /var/log/messages when I do ''tail -f /var/log/messages''. Is there someplace else I should check ? Thanks. RDB --

ices configure can't find lame library
Did you try --with-lame-libraries=/usr/local/lame or variations thereof? Some configure scripts do not like the explicit path to the library. <p>On Fri, 2002-07-19 at 08:13, Reuben D. shorewall doesn''t log dropped smb connection ?
Hello, This is probably nothing, and I''m just the one missing something here. But I''m just curious. I am trying to run samba in one of my machines that run shorewall. But I forgot to add the rule to allow smb connection in my /etc/shorewall/rules. Of course when I tried to access the smb share from another machine, I couldn''t. I fixed that quickly, no problem.

using the latest icecast and ices to stream both ogg and mp3
So basically, I download and install ices 0.3, fire it up as well and then using the currently running icecast server, just set a new mountpoint. Instead of /ksl.ogg I would make a /ksl.mp3 mountpoint. This would be configured in the configuration file included with ices 0.3? I am only doing live streaming, feeding a raw audio feed into the box, and then encoding it on the fly. Thanks much. KJ

Re [ogg]
I have ices2 working. How about creating a link on a webpage and then having a person go to it with their browser and clicking on the link and then having the player automatically open the file at the beginning...is this possible? That is how I have set up all the prior icecast servers. The client just clicks the link and the file starts playing from the beginning.

multiple ices streams and misc other stuff?
Hi all: I was just wondering when the multiple streams stuff might be checked in to cvs. I remember the gentleman working on it saying he basically had it running? The reason I'm asking is that I have received a number of requests to stream my mp3 stream at various bitrates. I kind of think running three ices streamers is silly if multiple streams will be available in the near future.

using the latest icecast and ices to stream both ogg and mp3
I've gotten a request from another broadcasting partner to set up yet another streaming audio server. They would like to stream in both ogg and mp3 formats from off a single icecast machine. I have been searching through the archives and I have seen this mentioned as being possible, but no real configurations. I would of course place LAME on the box and use that for streaming just as I would
