ices live streaming problems?
Hi, I worked all last night trying to get this thing going. Followed the instructions for setting up icecast2 and ices2, have my config file all set. I startup ices, and it seems to connect (icecast logs show source connected) but when I try to hit the server with xmms, it just keeps pre-buffering, like it will pre-buffer 100%, then instead of just playing, it will just start pre-buffering again.

Several Questions about Ices2 & icecast2
Hi, i have got a linux debian woody box with icecast2 and ices2 on it. I'm running a 24/7 stream with a huge playlist on my server, but I've got some questions about it: 1. Is it possible, that ices updates Metadata (Artist - Track) to the icecast Server in playlist mode? 2. Is there any possibility of controlling ices2 by a webinterface with functions like nextrack, stop and play,

Icecast2 and IceS2 client problem
Dear All: I have Icecast2 and IceS2 successfully built and installed on a Debian 3.0 system. After tinkering with the config files, both applications are running and seem to be talking to each other without problem. However, when I try to connect with a client, I run into problems: with Winamp 2.8, I get an [HTTP/1.0 200 OK] message, but then the stream is apparently dropped before buffering.

Mount failed - icecast2 with ices
Ok so I finally realized that you need icecast2 for ogg streaming to work and got the latest version of ices-0.2 installed. I am now unable to ever stream a friggin mp3 never mind an ogg file. The server is up (icecast2) and I see it in the web browser, when I try to run ices-0.2 I get the following errror. I am running ices-0.2 as root and icecast2 as richard (might that be the problemo?) Both

Problems with xmms & freeamp
Hi all, I've just set up a test icecast2 server (download and compiled from cvs about an hour ago) - very simple setup, all it does is use ices to stream in an .ogg file that I converted from an mp3, using mpg123 & oggenc. (I've used the sample conf files with the directory stuff removed. I've also tried it with and without the re-encoding lines from the ices-playlist.xml file).

another Icecast2/Vorbis stream on-line
Greetings: Another test. I've re-encoded a batch of mono 22050 Hz WAVs, average bitrate seems to hang around 30-40 kbps. Icecast.xml is set for three connects, and the URL is here: http://64.108.112.145:8000/shouter.ogg IMO, the sound quality is much better now. Again, the stream should be up for about 45 minutes or so. Please let me know how it works for you... Best regards,

icecast2 disconnects..
weird..I posted this a few days ago, but it never showed up... anyway, here it is (again) :) --------------------------------------------------- while we are talking about disconnects, I'll mention the fact that apparently when metadata song changes are done by a source (mine namely), icecast2 seems to want to disconnect each listener. I have confirmed that on metadata song changes, on

solved: building icecast2 on OpenBSD
Icecast2 compiles on OpenBSD 3.2 with the steps outlined by Moritz (thanks for that). I'm running into problems streaming ogg files from the fileserve directory, although serving mp3 files from the same directory happens without a hitch...again, both work fine on a Debian system. I'll try building the ogg and vorbis libraries from source to see if that fixes anything (they are

noobie questions
Hello! I'm extremely new at this so don't hurt me. I want to stream CD content from my RedHat 9 box using icecast? What is the best way to do this? I'm getting confused with all the different pieces and configurations. Is there a simple guide that discusses what I want to do? thanks! __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Trouble getting Ices/Icecast2 to stream
I'm rather new to this. I just set up Icecast and Ices using source from CVS downloaded yesterday (3-20-2003). The box is running RedHat 8.0 with all the required RPMs to compile. Here's my trouble: I have Ices running in live mode, with it connecting correctly to the Icecast server on port 8000 (which is only bound to 127.0.0.1). I'm using Winamp on the client end connecting to port

icecast2 is killed when client connects (on sparc32)
hi ! i have succesfully compiled libshout/icecast/ices on a quad ss20 (4xhypersparc@125mhz, 128mb ram). ten out of ten for a robust, cross-platform build, guys ! it compiled straight out of the box. i can start the server and it even connects to a remote server and starts to relay. when i run xmms from another machine and connect, it stops at "pre-buffering 0/32k". here's an
