icecast/ices
Marco, I have some preliminary HowTos and software available at http://quasi.ksl.com/icecast/ It's not as nice as http://www.6809.org.uk/kja3/ices2-howto.shtml, but I'm working to make it better as I become more familiar. Hope it helps. The ices2 program is designed for .ogg streaming while icecast-1.3.12 and related streamers, MuSE, liveice and DarkIce will still stream .mp3 quite nicely.

disable ID3 update
Hi, I'm running Aaron's tunequeue scripts for my radio site. (tunequeue.sf.net) I have ices2 to read Ogg Vorbis files and feed the icecast2 server with those files. Could someone please tell me how can I disable ID3 updating? I want all clients to only show the name of the radio, but don't get any of the ID tag information stored in the Ogg files. Where can I set that? Sorry for

winamp >2.75 -answer on song titles // use_meta_data-
I've searched the archives on xiph and elsewhere in hopes of finding an answer on whether song titles will work. There seems to be no definitive answer. use_meta_data 1 DOES work for WinAmp 2.75 but nothing else I've tried (which includes the latest WinAmp and Sonique). Also, I can get some header by telnetting into my port (see below) but still the "meta_data" issue remains a

Icecast 2: planned stuff.
Hi there. First, some words about what the context is over here. I'm a member of a french working group assembling several non profit organisation members that intend to help promoting free software usage, and in this case ogg vorbis and icecast. http://www.aful.org/gdt/interop/casRadioFrance.html Non profit organisation included in this group are Abul (www.abul.org), Aful (www.aful.org),

Streaming radio docs
I'm trying to make a ices/icecast streaming radio with encoding from soundcard. I did a lot of googling and couldn't find any docs other then icecast/ices docs, that are included in the source packages. Are there any other docs that i should read? Is there a howto outthere somewhere? <p>--- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ icecast project homepage:

winamp >2.75 -answer on song titles // use_meta_data-
also, keep in mind that support for streaming song titles is also a function of the source client you use.... I've been very successful with use_meta_data=1 and using either my DSP source (oddcast) or the Shoutcast DSP source.... and you can always know for sure if song titles are supported on your server by looking at the HTTP response headers from a request of the stream, (your request

Displaying song titles
OK, I'm a clueless newbie...I'm using icecast on a colocated server as a mirror to my shoutcast server. Everything works ok, but the only info shown in winamp is the stream title (station ID) when connecting to the mirror. The shoutcast server displays song info as it should, but the mirror is not parsing it. How do I set things up to display currently playing song and artist and

IceS 2 - scripted playlist
Yes. It runs a script which returns a file to stream. http://www.6809.org.uk/kja3/ices2-howto.shtml#config-input-playlist-script ml <p>On Thursday 07 November 2002 01:12 pm, Leo Currie wrote: > Hi - > Sorry if this has been answered - i've been away from this list for a few > months. > Just got IceS 2 and Icecast 2 setup and running :) > Looking at the sample

ices2 compile error, ignore previous msg
Oops! I accidently sent the previous message before I finished it, sorry! However, the problem remains the same. I cannot succesfully compile ices2 for some reason. I've followed some instructions I found on the web at http://www.6809.org.uk/kja3/ices2-howto.shtml. So far, what I've done is: 1) Installation of Slackware 8.1 (with libxml2 2.4.22, gcc 2.95.3) 2) Update of the oggutils

ices2 and vorbis RC3
Hi: I'm guessing we now need a new version of ices2 to work with vorbis RC3, at least if we want to re-encode. Is this correct? FLAC and ID3
Hello, I heard from a coworker that there was something that changed recently with FLAC and ID3. I don't have ANY details on what that means, and was wondering what has changed. The only thing I see (in the changelog) is that plugins have removed support for ID3 tags. I'm curious because I have been using ID3 tags with FLAC (I store extra data such as album art with my media files,

Icecast 2: planned stuff.
Hi there. I had a look at how icecast 2 works after having been pleased by how icecast 1 worked. I succesfully made it work on a debian woody (for those interested at how i did it http://melmoth.dyndns.org/stream/ It's in french yet). I was however disapointed a bit by not finding the admin console I used to find in icecast 1. So, several questions: is this admin console planned to be

dropping id3 support
after spending a lot of time integrating X-Fixer's winamp2 plugin code, I am on the verge of removing id3 v1/v2 support from the plugins completely. it is really hard to get right in a way that works intuitively for the user, and i18n is also a nightmare. in id3v2 every field can have a different encoding. FLAC tag a.k.a. Vorbis comment support is very good now so unless someone comes up

Metadata once more...with Ices
I use Ices with the perl module. I would like to know how to use the function supposed to return metadata, for example to read Id Tag. I didn't find anything in the documentation. Are there commands to get all the fields provided by the IdTag ? I also had strange results when commenting this function (in that case it is supposed to stream the name of the song, by reading the IdTag). With

id3-tags of static files
The protocol of sending of metadata over a stream (which is HTTP) does not allow for this type of thing. The problem is not necessarily the fact that the id3 tags are at the end of the files, as id3v2 does not have this restriction, but rather just the "agreed" upon protocol for handling metadata for streamed mp3s (and I'm only going to talk about mp3s here, since it's
