CVS problem
Thanks, removing the compression fixed the problem. I set up a script to checkout and compress for download CVS-only material from Xiphophorus -- http://pmw.myip.org/xiph_cvs/. So far I only have it to download three modules, so if there's anything else, please let me know. Also, if anyone knows how to bypass the interactive password prompt of the CVS, please let me know...

Patch to get libogg2 to build with gcc 2.96
Hi, When I built libogg2 for testing the new vorbose utility, gcc 2.96 stumbled over a portion from stream.c that mixes variable declarations with statements. The patch below fixes this. -Carsten. smallest page of encoded data
Hi, I am implementing and audio recorder where I need to encode to vorbis DURING recording. I need to allow the user to cut and paste segments of encoded audio into a new stream. As such, I need to encode the audio in sub-second pages (the smallest allowable amount for the wave format), so that cut/paste can be implemented simply by re-arranging these encoded pages. How can I calculate, the

Is there a archive with a collection of different .ogg files encoded with different settings that can be used to verify compatibility? * Different window size (e.g. != 256,2048) * Much larger codebooks and other extreme cases that are not generated using a standard encoder. * floor0 Regards -- / Johannes Sandvall --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project

oggenc lowpass switch?
Will oggenc have a lowpass switch? I would prefer to lowpass at 15-16khz at -q3 for use with FM broadcasting. The additional frequencies would be chopped off anyway by the transmiters hardware lowpass filter so the encoder could use the addition bits for other purposes. It could be enforced that the lowpass can only be reduced and not increased from the default. This would stop people

Transcoding between Vorbis and Vorbis
I know transcoding is a bad thing. However, i am in the need of being able to lower the quality of an ogg file without the original CD. Whats the best way to do it (least generational loss possible) - "ogg > ogg" or "ogg > wav > ogg" or is there an easier way (as in has someone got a decent working peeler up there sleeve and isn't telling anyone about it)

Can't compile vorbis-tools CVS
Hi all: I haven't had any luck with this on vorbis-dev, so I thought I'd try here. Note that for those who have read this already, there's new stuff at the bottom. I'm getting the folowing when attempting to compile vorbis-tools from CVS: Making all in intl make[1]: Entering directory `/usr/src/cvs/vorbis-tools/intl' make[1]: *** No rule to make target

The Xiph.org Foundation Needs You!
I am looking for someone to continue the Ogg Traffic tradition. Ogg Traffic is a weekly update and status report about what's happening with Ogg development as well as other related projects and interesting bits of news (Xiph, Speex, Icecast, etc.). Stan Seibert, who resurrected OT recently, is busy with Real Life activities that prevent him from writing an OT (http://www.vorbis.com/ot/)

Access Violation when calling ov_clear
I get an access violation when calling ov_clear(). I know ov_open() worked because I used ov_info to get the sampling rate and number of channels in the .ogg file. I also know the FILE pointer and the OggVorbis_File structure are still in scope (they're member variables of the same class my deconstructor is in (where ov_clear() is called)). Anyone have any ideas? I opened the file using

Outputting Sound from decoder_example
I am running the decoder_example file but instead of ouptutting the PCM to stdout I would like to output it to the soundcard so that I can hear the file playing. I am using Visual C++. Could someone please tell me the quickest way to do this. I am quite new to Visual C++ so don't assume that I know about the foundation classes. Thanks, Paul --- >8 ---- List archives:

compressed audio tutorial - "major" update
I've made a large update to the introduction to compressed audio. I completely rewrote the first section, which I wasn't happy with. It now features two diagrams (worth 1000 words each!), and is broken up into a couple of sections. http://cs.leander.isd.tenet.edu/~mitchell/vorbis_intro.html I have also continued to tweak other sections based on feedback from email and this forum.
