hi,
I'm not a Mac user, thus, my question is:
What is the best way to listen to .ogg files with a Mac? In both Mac 9
and MacOS X.

Missing libaudiofile.so.0
I am trying to install libao for ogg-vorbis on my Linux machine however
I get the following error:
failed dependencies: libaudiofile.so.0 is needed by libao-0.8.3-2
How do I find and install this needed library.
I have already installed libogg and libvorbis.
Thanks,
Jim

command-line: AIFF writer advice
The patch I submitted only reads AIFF files. I'm about to start the patch to
write AIFF files.
To do so, we need a command-line option to specify AIFF. My inclination is to
add an option:
-ff { raw | wav | aif }
In some sense, "-ff" is silly since it probably stands for "format format".
Still, I think it's better than just "-f", since the first

How about the opposite?
What I would like to see is FLAC support in libaudiofile, so
applications written with libaudiofile could transparently take
advantage on FLAC's compression. Ironically I guess it would still make
sense to use libaudiofile in FLAC for getting input. Mmmm, cyclic
dependancies...
Or is that just a stupid idea?

ao changes
Why has ao been changed so that there are now two open() functions ?
IMHO the original ao_open() was fine - if you wanted to set the
filename for output, you could add an option via ao_append_option
and if you wanted to avoid overwriting an existing file, you could
stat() it yourself.
Having ao_open_live() and ao_open_file() just makes more work for
the user of the library for no gain, AFAICT.

automating icecast2 startups
I have icecast2 running on several machines now and have gotten relaying
to work just fine. I've posted my instructions on how to do this to my
icecast docs site.
I have just a few more questions. Perhaps some one on this list has
already addressed these issues but has simply not posted these
elsewhere.
1) I'm looking for a startup script for launching the icecast2 icecast
ices binaries

problem using libao on OSX 10.4
I installed fink and now I have the /sw/lib, however that didn't fix
my problem. I went as far as to take out the -
Ddlsym=dlsym_auto_underscore out of the configuration files. Now
however the libao package won't build at all and yips about this:
[ukiel:/MP3/OGG/libao-0.8.6] wind% make

Making all in plugins
Making all in oss

64 bit compilation SUSE 10.2
Greetings All,
I am attempting to compile wine under the SUSE 10.2 64 bit
distribution, and am running into a bit of
a problem.
I have installed every 32 bit library that I could find in the
distro, including the xorg-X11 libs. I ran the following commands:
./configure --prefix=/usr --x-libraries=/usr/X11R6/lib
make depend && make
The compilation chugs away for about 15 min,

New QEMU 0.9.1 Solaris 10 Packages Available
All,
I''ve gone ahead and built the latest QEMU as a package.
The package is in the usual spot, at
http://www.thoughtwave.com/emulators.html
This is the 20080113 CVS head, built for x86 and sparc. Simply install the
most recent package, add /opt/thoughtwave/qemu/bin to your path, and the
wrapper scripts there will automagically run the right binaries for your
architecture.
Have fun

problem using libao on OSX 10.4
Hello,
I built the entire Vorbis kit on my PowerMac G4 running OSX 10.4.6.
I'm having problems however doing anything with the libao package.
Any time I try to use the library to link it errors out with the
following message:
/usr/bin/ld: Undefined symbols:
_dlsym_auto_underscore
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
If I try to run the ogg123 application I get this:
