[newbie] couple of quick questions
Hi,
newish to icecast - have downloaded and installed icecast on Redhat8
without a problem, my intention is to stream my entire MP3 collection -
couple of quick questions:
1: Do I need 'shout' to be able to stream playlists? I know it's not
supported anymore and it doesn't appear to be bundled with the latest dist?
2: Whats the best way of creating a random playlist from

ices compile problems (again...)
Okay, I did this right months ago, but somehow lost the recipe. I have
libxml and libxml2 installed:
[root@atisha ices-0.2.2]# ls /usr/local/lib
libshout.a libxml2.a libxml.a pkgconfig
libshout.la libxml2.la libxml.la xml2Conf.sh
libshout.so libxml2.so libxml.so xmlConf.sh
libshout.so.1 libxml2.so.2 libxml.so.1

Compiling Problems with ices
Hi list,
I tried to set up icecast and ices on our server and ran into problems
compiling ices. I ran ./configure --with-xml-config=/usr/lib where the
libxml2-2.4.3 is sitting but got this error :
"in ices_config.o undefined ref. to xmlParseFile"
I also installed libxml2-2.4.3-devel, so the header files should be in place.
I ran ldconfig several times but that didn't change

FreeBSD v5.2.1-RELEASE and Ices 2.0.0...
Hi all,
I'm trying to compile ices under FreeBSD v5.2.1; I've installed :
libogg-1.0_1,3
libvorbis-1.0_1,3
libxml-1.8.17_1
and
libshout2.
When compiling Ices it stops on ices.o: In function 'main':
/usr/src/ices-2.0.0/src/ices.c:117: undefined reference to 'xmlFree'
*** Error code 1
I installed most of the above from the FreeBSD ports, but can anyone point me in the

ices 0.2.2 and Mac OS X 10.1?
I've having trouble getting ices to compile under MacOS X. Mac OS has a
somewhat novel threads implementation (I'm being polite, here) and it
doesn't get along well with the threads in ices -- has anyone gotten it
to compile under MacOS X?
Initial errors:
Making all in thread
cc -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I. -I.. -I../avl -I../log -g -pipe -pipe -fno-common -no-cpp-precomp

ices question...
When I run ices with icecast running, I get
You have no libxml support. The config file you just specified cannot be
used.
Ices Exiting...
I installed the rpms for libxml and libxml-devel. What else do I need?

Well, is ices 0.2.3 still being supported?

ices 0.2.2 compile problems Py_Initialize and cannot find -lz
Hey Harvey -- all you need to do is to add -lutil to the $LIBS list
around line 3968 of "configure"
LIBS="-l$lib -lm -ldl $LIBS"
becomes
LIBS="-l$lib -lm -ldl -lutil $LIBS"
hould solve yer problems.
also, around line 3957, in the 'for lib in python python2.0 python1.6,
etc, you may want to add python2.1 (if you have 2.1 installed, else it
may have trouble

Trying to compile ices under FreeBSD
looks like you need to set
CPPFLAGS="-I/usr/local/include"
and
LDFLAGS="-L/usr/local/lib"
in your configure environment.

ices 0.3 on FreeBSD
I have successfully compiled Ices 0.3 on FreeBSD (4.7 and 4.9).
You need to make sure that ALL the dependicies are installed (some depend on
others) and when compiling them, that they compile with no problems.
<p>Include some output of what errors you are getting and I #should# be able to
help you on your way.

OK, I think I'm making some progress.
Got the ogg libraries compiled and installed
Got Ices compiled and installed (no more error - yay!)
Now, I'm trying to get Ices running in live
