[newbie] couple of quick questions
Hi, newish to icecast - have downloaded and installed icecast on Redhat8 without a problem, my intention is to stream my entire MP3 collection - couple of quick questions: 1: Do I need 'shout' to be able to stream playlists? I know it's not supported anymore and it doesn't appear to be bundled with the latest dist? 2: Whats the best way of creating a random playlist from

Ices issues
Hi: I ran a live test broadcast today and noticed a couple of things that concerned me. Now, I'll admit I was pushing my P2/266 pretty hard, but it kept things going so I'm guessing that it's not unreasonable for me to expect this to work. I was sending two streams encoded from the sound card, one at 22khz mono quality -1 and the other at 44.1 stereo quality 0. I was also saving

Scripted playlists with shout?
Hi, Another basic question (the list archive search doesn't seem to be working). Is it possible to do scripted playlists with shout? I want to allow the people at my site to upload new mp3 files to the server and have them placed in the playlist automatically. I tried generating the playlist (file) with crontab, but it seems shout only reads the playlist once, at startup. I

Error: Client not receiving data fast enough
Hey all, I've been having the same "Client not receiving data fast enough" errors. I've got icecast configured so as not to send info to ANY yp directories. Even on a quiet 100MB connection between client and server, I can stay connected for only about 5 minutes at a shot if I'm lucky. I'm using Icecast 1.3.11, and Shout 0.8.0. The files I'm streaming are all

My OS in linux. my local ip address is 192.168.1.1 I'm currently running icecast from my comcast ip address 68.50.209.120. But if I try to connect to the stream via 192.168.1.1 I get 404 Entity Not Found The requested file or stream was not found on this server. I am a Idiot

Icecast always(1) gets it's input from a socket, generally via some 'source' program like ices, liveice, shout, etc. Now, as for which source you want, that depends on how you are streaming. If you are

multiple shout streams
I'm running multiple instances of ices. Also, I found what the problem was with the constant stream. I was getting a default stream because I was using my local ip address to run the server, and when I tried to access the different streams from my outside ip address something got confused. I'm running it from my outside ip address and everything works fine. Does anyone know a what to run

Playlist Problem (Newbie)
I just downloaded and installed the newest version of icecast. I have been using shout to stream my mp3's into icecast, and it worked ok except it kept stopping mid song and I'd have to hit the play button again on xmms to get it to work properly, but then a few minutes later it does the same thing. I downloaded ices to use instead of shout and now it won't load the playlist..?

Dynamic playlist support
Here is my suggestion -- something i'm getting started on. iceS supports writing a playlist handler in either Perl or Python, and that could very well get the next song out of a database, that is fueled by requests from users. I'll be using Python (as it RULES! hehe), and the learning curve is rather low. --ben -----Original Message----- From: owner-icecast@xiph.org

Sample rate won't stay on setuped rate
Hello! I'm new here and I downloaded, configured and compiled icecast and ices. The source got connected and streamed MP3s to the icecast-server. Now I have some probs here: 1.) The sample rate setuped by command line options does always change. Here's the full term: ices -r -H 22050 -N 1 -R -d Test-Server -g Mixed -n Test-Stream -s -v -F /root/MP3-Playlists/BestOf-New_Cool.lst -p

Dynamic playlist support
Hello everyone, Just curious if ices supports dynamic playlists... I would like to generate one on the fly based on user requests etc. I'm startnig to go through icedj's source code to see how they use shout. I'd just use that, but I'm having trouble with shout.
