here at wkdu.org our minds are blown trying to figure out what our problem is, we are using a dell optiplex gx1 with a soundblaster live card. we are getting a nasty hum on the line in. the thing is we plug a cd player directly into the soundcard the hum goes away and when we plug the line in into anything else there is no hum, so the question i ask where is the hum coming from? we are

Icecast + oddcast + voice
Hi: If you can record your mic but it's not working in XMMS, this suggests an issue on the XMMS side. Are you invoking the XMMS Recorder plugin as detailed in the Readme? MB soundcards and PCI soundcards
Here's a problem that I have uncovered on two entriely separate machines using the latest icecast2 and ices2 software. Even when the onboard soundcard is disabled, the PCI soundcard (which has been both a Creative Live! and an Ensoniq soundcard) is unable to accept input or stdin audio. If I enable the onboard soundcard everything works well and I can stream audio using icecast and ices. But

[headset/mic] Volume too low + echo in *
Hello, I'm having the following problem when using a headset on XP connected to an on-board Realtek soundcard on an AsusTek M2N68-AM Plus motherboard: - Using any sound recorder (Windows', Audacity, XLite), the level is just too low when speaking at a conversational level, even with the microphone level pumped all the way up (line displayed totally flat in Recorder)

Encoding from mic (linux) question
How much work would be involved to encode audio from the microphone? LiveIce, for instance uses a FIFO, opens the sound card, reads from the soundcard, and calls lame(or some other encoder) on the buffer. I'd like to be able to vorbis-encode from the mic, and send the encoded stream to an IP. --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project homepage:

Encode on fly from device?
Hello, I'm looking for ideas here. I'm sure it's easy, but cant quite get what I need. I am looking for a way to encode everything from the soundcard into a .ogg, on the fly. Basically I want to be able to record and convert directly to a compressed file. Since this will be running constantly, I would also like to be able to listen to the file during this time. I know oggenc can use

Conference with MOH or input from computer Mic.
Tim Thompson Commercial Sales Engineer http://www.amatechtel.com (806) 722-2227 Would anyone have an idea on how I would be able to take the mic in on the computer and put it as the "talking party" for a conference room. I would then be able to set up a "listen only" profile for others to get in on. Reason for doing this is for 'shut-in's' for my Church.

File isn't in mbox format - Couldn't open INBOX
I cannot reproduce this error everytime, but it seems to happen when Outlook tries to delete the first message (the first message in the file, message on top) in the /var/mail/user file. I tried looking through the mailing list but came up blank. Is this a known problem? I can fix this problem by editing the file manually and fixing the file. If I delete the first 2 lines (in the example below)

Sorting File List
Hello folks, I was wondering if there was a way to have the file listing displayed by (http://v-man.ca:8000/file) sorted in alphabetical order? My playlists are in alphabetical order, but I am playing them randomly on the mountpoint. With this is mind, I am assuming that icecast is serving up the playlist as it has been given it by ices. Any thoughts? Gary. v-man.ca:8000 <p>--- >8

New User Installation: Questions about live streaming
My short term goal, is to stream mp3 and add input from the mic (my voice) into the stream. Long term goal, internet radio with music, talk, and request on demand. I downloaded, compiled, and configured ices-0.4.tar using ices.conf.dist (mp3 files are streaming and clients [winamp, win media] connect OK). In the /download/ices-0.4/conf directory there are four files: ices.conf.dist,

xmms and icecast2
hi, I was wondering if anyone can help me. At the moment I am finishing off a project that is more or less a stream management system, kind of like a web jukebox with a time-based scheduling facility and several other 'radio-like' features... I am using xmms-shell to control the replay of ogg files. I also use noxmms to kill the gui of xmms so I can run the application from a remote
