My guess is that you have a space at the end of your password. icecast + liveice won't play nicely
Michael, I think you are right. However, I cannot successfully download and install icecast from icecast.org. When I do so, gzip complains: -- bash-2.05a$ tar fxz icecast-1.3.12.tar.gz gzip: stdin: not in gzip format tar: child returned status 1 -- Is the distro corrupt? or am I missing something? Is there a way to generate the crypted passwords? I could not get makepasswd.c to compile as

FIrst of all, I start Icecast (Version 2.2.0) and it seems to come up fine. Then I start liveice, and I get the following error message: liveice -c /usr/local/bin/liveice.conf 0 Initialising Soundcard 16Bit 22050Hz opening connection to localhost

icecast+liveice in normal user fail
I would like to use icecast and liveice as my normal account. If I do so, using xmms, I can access the relayed radios I have defined, but I cannot listen th the playlist liveice is broadcasting on /disk. XMMS tells me that the specified stream could not be found. If I launch icecast as root however, it works fine. I've searched through the logs and checked the file permissions but I

Kerry. I would like to get a copy of this document which you speak of. I have had generic trouble in getting livice properly installed and think that would do the trick... ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kerry Cox" <kerry.cox@ksl.com> To: <icecast@xiph.org> Sent: Thursday, November 07, 2002 10:22 AM Subject: Re: [icecast] icecast + liveice won't play nicely

Unofficial Icecast HOWTO posted
Howdy. I just posted an unofficial HOWTO on configuring icecast2 on a Linux or other UNIX machine. It's just a draft in DocBook format, but I was hoping it might help someone. I've worked enough with icecast over the past few years that I thought it time to share what I've learned. The URL is as follows: http://quasi.ksl.com/icecast/ I have older documentation in

Unofficial Icecast HOWTO posted
Absolutely!! That was one thing that I was missing and would have like to have included. You can either send me the data or let us know the link. If you wouldn't mind adding to this HOWTO and I will post a link to your page so that people would know where I got the original files. Sounds good. According to this list I was told that it was available to download? The only thing on the download page is the info on icecast 2 from cvs? streaming ogg and mp3 on the same machine
I have been able to successfully stream ogg vorbis as both a playlist and as a live stream off my icecast2 server here using port 8000. Works great. I can also stream MP3 live audio using darkice and icecast2 off the same box using port 8001. But I have been unable to create a situation where I can stream *both" ogg and mp3 off the same machine. I have even created a new icecast directory to

Restricting access to specific IPs
Hello I tried searching the mailing list and did some googling on the topic also, but didn't find anything very useful. I'm looking for a way to restrict access to my icecast2 server (which runs on a Slackware 8.1 system) by using a list of IPs that should be allowed to connect as clients / sources. .. now how do I do this? ;-) I remember that it was possible in the older Icecast

using the latest icecast and ices to stream both ogg and mp3
So basically, I download and install ices 0.3, fire it up as well and then using the currently running icecast server, just set a new mountpoint. Instead of /ksl.ogg I would make a /ksl.mp3 mountpoint. This would be configured in the configuration file included with ices 0.3? I am only doing live streaming, feeding a raw audio feed into the box, and then encoding it on the fly. Thanks much. KJ

subscription services on icecast2
I just got a query from a user regarding icecast2 and thought I'd throw it out to the mailing list. Is it possible to set up some sort of subscription to an icecast2 audio feed? A student at the University of Cincinnati wants to create a subscription service to an indie radio station and have users sign up, and then get a login to the stream. They would have an unique username and password.

relaying using latest builds
Does anyone have a working configuration of relaying using icecast-2.0.0 and ices-2.0-Beta4? Also, anyone using multiple streams from the master server to the slave? I had relaying and multiple streams working great using a CVS download sometime ago and tried setting it up with the latest builds and it is appears to work, but no sound is coming from the slave box. Also, some of the syntax has
