Icecast winamp oddcast mountpoint problem?
Hi there! I'm new to the list and I'm experiencing somekind of problem. I have installed icecast 1.3.12 as a OpenBSD 3.2 port. I use winamp (on win2000) for encoding with muchFX and 4 oddcast DSP plugins for different streams. Streams are mounted in /low /medium /high /vh mount points. From icecast logfiles it seems that everything is working ok. When I try to connect with a client

Best quality setting for mp3 transcoded old radio shows
Hi, I have a bunch of old radio programs (mystery/drama shows, not music) encoded at 32 kbit (and some 48kbit) mp3 (mono). I want to reencode them in ogg and make them available over gnutella. My question is this. What is the best quality level (-q) for transcoding them. I want to preserve quality, but I want to be sensitive to the many modem based gnutella users. I also want to to

Currently I'm using icecast1 and darkice to send a live-stream ... now I updateted icecast2 ... but is there a way to create 2 different MP3 streams (with 2 different qualities) using a streaming client? ices2 would be great but it only supports ogg :-( As real radiostation we have to use MP3 because most auf the windows playeres still don't support ogg ... :-(( My boss wants an

dare to compare -- live streams: ogg/WMA
hello, I like your point here .. it's difficult to make such a comparision, since yacast.fr choosed to stream like that. Why did they choose to stream like that? That's beyond me, since Radio France has a budjet of millions. The point of this comparision was to show why is Radio France doing and paying for something like this? Me, with cheap computers which were had no more value (well,

Metadata
Hi! Been trying to figure out how to stream metadata. I got metadata streaming working for MP3, but just cant seem to make it work for Ogg? This is how I *think* it works - please correct me where I'm wrong: 1. For MP3 the metadata is updated via a HTTP GET (aka Old shoutcast method, just new URL /admin/) 2. For Ogg the metadata is embedded directly into the stream using a comment packet? I

[Re: icecast2 ??]
Dear list, I agree with the main points that have been stated here lately -- icecast2 appears not ready for prime time (because of lack of web presence / tarball and rpm downloads / some documentation on line) and icecast1 community needs a support forum if this list no longer is one. It would be so simple to spell out the statuses on www.icecast.org -- Status of icecast1, status of

Problem with streaming some mp3s (but not all)
Hi! I would really appreciate if someone could try to help me out with this... i've been struggling with it for quite a while now. :( Anyway, I was trying to use ices to broadcast mp3s with icecast2 (a recent cvs snapshot of all 3 components from brendan's site). I have it working fine for some of my mp3s (encoded with lame -b 32) but with the other mp3s which are actually the ones that

Ices problems : Skipped corrupt file
Hi, I have icecast installed, with ices 2.0 providing it with an ogg stream. Both connects. But my Zinf player says "Skipped corrupt file" at the end of the buffering... and that's all. Does somebody has an idea about to solve that ? Thanks, Chris --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ icecast project homepage: http://www.icecast.org/ To unsubscribe from this

Hello! I'm extremely new at this so don't hurt me. I want to stream CD content from my RedHat 9 box using icecast? What is the best way to do this? I'm getting confused with all the different pieces and configurations. Is there a simple guide that discusses what I want to do? thanks! __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! poor quality mp3
I noticed a strange bug with poor quality mp3 (< 64 kbps). When a good mp3 ( > 128) is streamed after a poor one, the client is disconnected from the channel at the end of the poor one. It seems to happen with any client. Is it normal ? -- Ced

--- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ icecast project homepage:

OT: whats your opinion of ODDSOCK streamTranscoder?
This is all happening on a box with: Win 2k SP3 512K RAM 1.2 GHZ Celeron The PC has noother load...all its doing is downsampling an MP3 stream to lower bitrates. I'm using the LAME_ENC.DLL with streamTranscoder. There is no version number tagged on the lame_enc.dll, but the file is dates July 2002. Dummy soundcard driver for Windows (OT)
We want to setup multiple streams using multiple copies of Winamp/SQRSoft crossfader/OddCast. We are guessing that somewhere between 16 and 24 streams may be supported on one dual-processor PC. However, rather than sending the output of all the streams to a soundcard (which may cause problems?), I thought it should be possible to send the output to a dummy soundcard driver. I was sure one
