combined mp3 and vorbis stream
Jake, You could decode the compressed audio to raw audio, pipe it into the ice system and have it "re-encode" to a consistent bitrate and format (Vorbis/MP3). If there's nothing with the Ice software that's this versatile, you'll have to write a small shell script, which does something like calls ogg123/mpg123 and outputs decoded audio. Now I mention this as potentially

combined mp3 and vorbis stream
Excellent! Glad I could help someone here, even if I'm not actually using this software yet :-D ( I'm going to try streaming again when I have some vacation time next week. ) Scott <p><p>> -----Original Message----- > From: Jake Hoban [mailto:jake@iceweasels.org] > Sent: Tuesday, September 17, 2002 7:21 PM > To: icecast@xiph.org > Subject: RE: [icecast]

ices0.4: icecast mp3 stream for source ?
Hello together, we would like to use IceCast 2.3.1 as a mp3 streamer source for reencoding several sources of ices 0.4. It is working perfectly already by using an mp3 playlist with local stored mp3s. But our plan is to upload an 160 kbps stream and want ices 0.4 to reencode to 96, 56 and 32 kbps. Uploading 1 getting 4 streams. We are streaming with SAM Broadcaster 2. Icecast runs on SuSE 9.3

Linux source-client that can push AAC to icecast2?
Hi all, I set up ezstream to read a playlist.m3u file containing only MP3 encoded songs (to shuffle continuously) and push this to icecast2. This works, and I can also reencode to a lower bitrate. I would like to know if there is a way to reencode these MP3s into AAC-LC 128kpbs and then push the stream to icecast2. I'm doing this on a VM with only terminal access and no audio hardware, so

Re: HTTP Streaming
Okay, this is similar to how the mp3 streaming was. The question is then, what is the MIME type for the playlist itself? For mp3s, it used to be audio/x-mpegurl?? PLEASSSSEE HELP
ok from the beginning .. the "otto mp3" is a software piece that can take a lot of mp3s , put them in a mysql data base and then can 1. play requests that users make on the web interface out to the sound card 2. stream the song to the browser using icecast and ices. now the icecast and ices in "general" configurations works with either a playlist or mp3s if i am not

Does send_file act differently with Mongrel than withWebrick?
I tried the mime thing but it did not help. I didn''t think it was that because I can get the mp3 served OK hitting the URL in a browser. I just noticed that I am getting an error in Mongrel when WinAmp make the request for the mp3 file: BAD CLIENT (127.0.0.1): Invalid HTTP format, parsing fails. I don''t think Mongrel has a problem with the URL itself because if a browser

ices 0.2.2 and Mac OS X 10.1?
I've having trouble getting ices to compile under MacOS X. Mac OS has a somewhat novel threads implementation (I'm being polite, here) and it doesn't get along well with the threads in ices -- has anyone gotten it to compile under MacOS X? Initial errors: Making all in thread cc -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I. -I.. -I../avl -I../log -g -pipe -pipe -fno-common -no-cpp-precomp

Does send_file act differently with Mongrel than with Webrick?
Mongrel 0.3.13.3 Windows XP Rails 1.1.6 I have a rails app that serves up mp3 files via the send_file command. We create a playlist (M3U) with URLs to the mp3s. These play just fine using Windows Media Player. However using WinAmp we get an error "error syncing to stream" when it tries to request the mp3. After playing around I found that if I am running Rails under Webrick WinAmp

ices file name problem
I have a collection fo mp3s that I wish to stream. They came from a windows environment and when ripped they used spaces in the files names. When I prepare a file list with the spaces on the linux box it works fine with mpg123 and muse buts spits out error messages from ices and continues to cycle through the playlist until I break out of ices. <p>Error opening /music/d/m4/ANNOINTED -

fitting lots of music into 10GB with Vorbis
Hi- just wondering, what would be the best quality rating to use to fit lots of music into 10GB of HD space. The audio quality has to be high enough for it to sound good when played through PA systems (for when my college is stupid enough to forget to hire a DJ, or when the realise the DJ they always hire can't use a mixing desk properly) ranging from a functional PA system thats stuck in the

a few questions
I have just gotten a stream working and it is very cool. I am using ices0.4 to stream mp3s to icecast2 under redhat 9. I have a couple of questions, though: 1. No files are being written to the admin directory. It is successfully writing the access and error logs and the pid file. The path is correct in the icecast.xml file. The user has write access to the admin directory. Do I need to turn

Icecast server terminates
Hello Everybody, I am new to this list, maybe boring and annoying questions will be asked from you, but please help me if you can. :) I have a problem with the icecast server version 1.3.11. I am running it on a RedHat linux 7.0 box, with my own C++ program that uses the libshout development library (1.0.5). My program connects to the icecast server and feeds it continously with mp3 data.
