[ANNOUNCE] pymp3cut
Hi there, I'm pleased to announce the availability (CVS only for now) of pymp3cut. pymp3cut is a GPLed Python command line tool designed to automatically cut very big mp3 files according to a timeline, and postprocess each subfile with any tool of your choice in a single run. It's useful if you stream very long events (10 hours or so) like congresses using IceCast and want to cut the

Hi, Last week, while trying to compile IceCast2 from CVS on several Debian machines (sid, woody, sarge), I encountered a problem where autoconf told me to file a bug report, which I did with Debian's reportbug utility. here's the answer from Ben Pfaff, who's in charge of Autoconf at Debian, which you may find interesting to read. hth. bye, PS: I've not tested his suggestion

Setting up Icecast on a shell?
What settings do I need to change in the Makefile etc so it compiles and installs on a normal shell account? I've already tried compiling it using a different prefix etc but I must have messed up somewhere. Since its a normal shell account i obviously can't install to /usr/local and so forth... I'm wanting to have it installed to /home/username/icecast/server (then /bin for binaries,

Printer accounting/quota ?
Hi all, I am about to install a Samba server at a local school, and i need some advice and/or experience from others who have worked on a installation of that type/size. My plan is to roll-out a Samba server (of course), with LDAP back-end, and a number of printer queue's via CUPS. There will be aprox. 1000 user accounts, mostly students. The school has asked for a solution that would

Page Accounting with Samba
Hi all, We have a Debian Sarge Box with Samba 3.0.14a and Cups 1.1.23-10 for sharing files and printers. For printing we had cups configured to understand postscript files produced by the postscript driver in the windows clients. With this configuration we have no problems for doing Page Accounting with cups. But we had a lot of problems with some documents (powerpoint,

print quota with CUPS
Hi, I am running CUPS-1.1.19 and Samba-2.2.8a on Debian 3.0 to serve both Windows and Unix clients. Has anyone got print quotas for Cups working? When I set quota using lpadmin, it does not limit the pages to be printed, in other words doesn't do anything. Any help is highly appreciated. Shanti

User notification for jobs - windows clients
Hi, Sorry for cross-posting, but this seems to be an interdiciplinary issue. I would like our users to get a popup notification of the completion / failure of their jobs. I think that best way to implement this would be from CUPS, but I don't know how to generate the required information for SAMBA to send the message to the client. Any pointers welcome Thanks Gil

statically link icecast2.
Hi there, I'd want to know how can I statically link icecast 2 when compiling it on my laptop. I want to compile it there, then just copy the final statically linked executable on a server which doesn't currently have the appropriate libraries (and for which upgrading is currently not an option). I've searched a lot, and tried --enable-static and --disable-shared, but these

Hi there, maybe someone here could help me solve my problem. I've streamed two complete days of a congress using DarkIce and IceCast, but now I want to cut the mp3 files in parts, a part per speaker. I've actually got four mp3 files, one for each morning and afternoon, but each is several hundreds megabytes long (128 Kbits/s stereo) Is there any tool available which would allow me to
