Low bitrate high-band coding...
Hi,
I'd like to contribute to Vorbis and I think this may be of some interest for
low bitrate coding. I have been experimenting with low bit-rate coding for the
high-band (11 kHz to 22 kHz) and, though I haven't yet started quantizing my
coefficients (a gain and an LPC filter), I expect to be able to approximate the
whole 11-22 kHz band with around 1000 bits/s per channel (maybe even 500

Is this SDP payload Asterisk created valid?
We have an issue with a customer where when calls are sent to one of their offices as soon as the call is answered the call fails.
We are performing remote bridging and switching the audio from the server which initiated the call to our switch which is on the same network.
After the call is answered we switch the audio which is accepted fine but we then send the following packet and get a SIP/488

Ices2 compile error - streaming ogg!
Still trying to stream ogg and have not gotten past a make error in
ices2. We www.freespeech.org are an independent media / news
site so it would be nice to get this running
and support this new format. I'd love to convert all of our 700
streaming video files from from realmedia as well but thats another
story!
Perhaps this is not the correct forum but it seems like there

Ices2 compile error - streaming ogg!
Actually, you don't have to check out ogg and vorbis from CVS. You can
just use Vorbis 1.0, if you like. ices was updated to use the Vorbis
1.0 encoding API, and that is the source of the errors the original
poster was seing.

Benefits of SSL?
Hi Thomas,
Why not offer both?
SSL is important so as not to be penalized by search engines that nowadays expect it on any website, more so when you have a form asking for sensitive information, as it encrypts the communication between browser and server.
Having said that, there is no reason for you not to offer both https:// and http://, all you need to do is using different ports. For

Benefits of SSL?
I have started my radiostation on http. I have spread the word about
the radio with a http-link. Now I (think I) have learned how to use my
letsencrypt certificate, but if I change now, I will break a lot of
links.
What I have done now is to redirect the https-links on my server to
https, so you can use both http and https in front of the url to the
stream.
That means you CAN access it via http.

Impossible to connect to ANY yp server
Greetings
I'm having problems announcing my stream on any yp server, using
Icecast v1.3.12 compiled with the optimization support.. I have
tried every directory server I could find, but I still get the same
result.
When I start icecast with an yp server available, I get this:
[09/Feb/2003:14:52:47] Using xaudiocast directory server
[yp.icecast.org:80/cgi-bin/touch]
.. and then I don't

Streamer / scheduler - play file at predifined time?
thanks, this works but its almost impossible to make all my programs
to add up to an hour exactly so at some stage I would need to kill
the a song half way through just before the news at the top of the
hour. Any ideas on how to do this ??/

Speech Recognition
Does anyone know of a speech recognition module (like say yes or no, or
numbers) I guess due to the complexity of speech recognition it might just
be found in commercial applications or am I wrong like always?

Monit + Mongrel woes
Hello all,
So, I''ve been using monit with mongrel for a while now, since the
0.3.x days (I think it was). It used to work fine, but now I seem to
be having some trouble. I''m currently using mongrel 1.0.1 and I am
using the same monit configuration I''ve always been using, yet
everytime monit should restart mongrel, I get "Execution failed".
For the start

Source throttling bug, windows->linux
I'm getting a weird source throttling bug that I just don't know how to
track down.
Source is windows shoutcast 1.9.0 winamp plugin (XP up to date, and possibly
others)
Server is 2.3.0
It works fine for quite a while, then I get the following wierdness on
tcpdump and it goes to hell:

How to hack a mongrel cluster to restart in an alternating manner?
Hello,
I''ve been trying (unsuccessfully) to hack my mongrel_cluster to re-ststart
in an alternating manner.
Specifically, this soluiton:
http://blog.carlmercier.com/2007/09/07/a-better-approach-to-restarting-a-mongrel-cluster/#content
Which means I an call to mongrel_rails cluster::restart to do this:
mongrel_rails start 8001
mongrel_rails stop 8001
mongrel_rails start 8002
