Stream read too fast / too slow
I know this is a recurrent question but I did not find anything to
answer it in the archive...
Here is my problem : after a file has been sent and read normally,
sometimes the next one is read twice as slow or twice as fast as it
should be. This is fixed by stopping the client and starting it again :
this means that the problem does not really comes from the stream, which
seams somehow to be

Icecast admin interface
I have a problem with Icecast web admin interface.
My icecast.conf file contains :
acl_policy 1

allow all *.via.ecp.fr
When connecting to my admin interface, I get a 403 error message ( You don't
have access to this entity (stream or file).), and icecast says "Kicking
unknown 48 [mallet.via.ecp.fr] [No mountfile found], connected for 0 seconds".
There is no firewall

Darkice CVS
Akos, have tried to use the CVS for the last few days (following instructions on sourceforge) but it keeps timing out.
Anything going on with the CVS Server?

LiveIce and Zope
I have a very weird problem between Liveice and Zope.
I start LiveIce with a script shell that works well. Since I want to run
it under a Zope page I made a Zope "external method" to run the script
through a Python module. When I call the method, the script is called by a
function in the python module, and runs, but LiveIce does not work (seems
like it does not even start). The weird

<p>A hint : according to the man this function is linked to /etc/hosts,
which contains only one line : 127.0.0.1

I tried with an empty /etc/hosts.deny, and /etc/hosts.allow only
containing "ALL : ALL".
That did not solve the problem..

Number of clients
Clients includes sources admins and listeners. Say you have a server with two sources 5 listeners and you are logged in as admin through telnet you should have 8 clients.

I noticed on IceCast1 that the number of clients displayed in the admin
console is very often higher than the number of clients provided by

DarkIce problem
Hello
Sorry if i'm not exactly on the right list, but I'm sure you guys will
help me :-)
I have a problem with DarkIce, since the compiler can't find Lame
libraries. I tried with Lame 3.70, 3.89beta (both hand-compiled) and a
package (3.89 too), nothing works. Which version on Lame am I suposed tu
use to make DarkIce work, and is there a secret trick to make it work ?
:)
Thank you

Bandwidth
Just a little question about icecast. I guess the streaming technique
used is unicast. In that case, how is it that the bandwith used does not
grow up as several listeners connect ? Or is the bandwith written in the
icecast interface the bandwith used per listener ?
Thank you for your answers.

Metadata once more...with Ices
I use Ices with the perl module. I would like to know how to use the
function supposed to return metadata, for example to read Id Tag.
I didn't find anything in the documentation. Are there commands to get
all the fields provided by the IdTag ?
I also had strange results when commenting this function (in that case
it is supposed to stream the name of the song, by reading the IdTag). With

IceS compiling problems
I have serious problems to compile IceS on a debian (woody), kernel 2.4.18.
I have to say the configure script does not find anything...
- I installed libshout and libshout-dev downloaded drom the icecast site. I
have shout.h :

shout.h
Yet configure gives me this :

Best quality setting for mp3 transcoded old radio shows
Hi,
I have a bunch of old radio programs (mystery/drama shows, not music)
encoded at 32 kbit (and some 48kbit) mp3 (mono). I want to reencode
them in ogg and make them available over gnutella.
My question is this. What is the best quality level (-q) for
transcoding them. I want to preserve quality, but I want to be
sensitive to the many modem based gnutella users. I also want to to

creating live mp3-stream
hi!
Currently I'm using icecast1 and darkice to send a live-stream ... now I
updateted icecast2 ... but is there a way to create 2 different MP3 streams
(with 2 different qualities) using a streaming client? ices2 would be great but
it only supports ogg :-( As real radiostation we have to use MP3 because most
auf the windows playeres still don't support ogg ... :-((

[LLVMdev] Question: Motivation of the semantics of the undefined value?
Dear LLVMdev,
We have a question regarding the semantics of the undefined value in LLVM
IR.
As far as we understand, in order to give a semantics to the undefined
value, the semantics of LLVM IR is generalized to a rather unusual
set-based semantics. More specifically, the notion of value in LLVM IR is
generalized to a set of values, rather than a single value. Then the
undefined value is simply
