thanks... Icecast doesn't log this problem. the icecast.log file (icecast.log) hasn't been updated for some time only the stats.* and useage.log have changed <p>Wade Carroll wrote: >I don't know what's happening there. I've had the same issue. Must not be many subscribers or they've moved on to some other list. I switched to the linux Shoutcast for my server (much more reliable) and am looking for a replacement for ices that reliably re-encodes VBR. Let me know if you find anything. BTW...maybe if you posted your config files for ices and icecast i could compare it with mine (or my old one for

I don't know what's happening there. Thought maybe it was a mp3 file (I've had troubles with certain mp3s). Check your messages log in icecast (you can change the message detail with the console mode I believe). You might be getting a bad password or something on the icecast side and by looking at ices just seeing this error. Could be a bad port# ? Wish I could be of more help.

Good luck with that. Actually I didn't mean log. I meant the icecast console itself. If it's in the right console mode (2?) it will display everything that's happening and any error messages. Seems like the log only shows uptime info by default. Any ol' how, i think i've exhausted my in-depth technical prowess ;-) -----Original Message----- From: owner-icecast@xiph.org

version confusion
Hello. I'm one of the maintainer of ices packages found at http://plf.zarb.org. I'm currently trying to rebuild the whole ice/icecast/libshout trilogy. However, i'm running into some troubles.

Using icecast2 with MP3 problems
I've downloaded and compiled icecast from cvs and the ices-0.2.3 from the download area for MP3 support.. (I'd use ogg, except I have 1000's of mp3. I'll re-rip them, but not today) 8) Is there a particular version of the icecast2 server that works w/ the ices-0.2.3 I'm using? I'm having difficulty getting the two to communicate. >From ices, I get the errors: Error

Some diffs to libshout for MacOSX
Brendan, Thanks for applying these patches - that's great. We're about to release the latest version of our SndKit frameworks, which require libshout to be installed in order to compile. Up until now we have provided the set of patches that we sent to you, and instructed people to download the iceS-0.2.2 package, apply the patches, and compile from there. What we'd prefer though

Streaming AAC with libshout?
The open source fdk-aac encoder, available there: https://github.com/mstorsjo/fdk-aac offers pretty good quality. As for libshout, I do not think that it is currently posible to send AAC data using it. First, libshout doesn't have support to buffer and control timing of data sent. And even is you use the un-timed API (shout_send_raw), the library cannot set the proper mime type, due to a

MP3/OGG/The whole thing
Hello all Icecasters! I'm using icecast 1.3.12 and iceS 0.2.3 (with a self-made patch for VBR MP3, and an extensive Perl script for automatisation) to stream radio. Works great! I've tried to understand everything about MP3/OGG and Icecast and since I'm a stupid person I need to draw things all the time ;) - so I need you to tell me if I've misunderstood anything in this scheme:

libshout1-based mp3 streaming to icecast2
According to what I've read on this mailing list, it should be possible to stream MP3 data to icecast2 using ices-0.2.3, which I assume also should be the case for any other streaming client based on libshout1. So I decided to test this out to see if we really could dispense with icecast1 altogether on the server I help administer. My results were not promising, to say the least. I wiped out
