what's the plans for the website :-)
was: [icecast] what's happening here? <p>The list doesn't seem any more stagnant than the website ;-) Seriously, the lack of current news on the website must have a turning-away effect for curious folks checking www.iccast.org out. There's a recent post from 18 days ago, but there was a "no news" dry spell between August 7 2001 and April 10 2002! During this time I

what's the plans for the website :-)
I've had a server co-located which I would've dedicated it and given admin access for beta testers, right now i am giving it back. I am / was running shoutcast for few more days. It is very easy to install Ikonboard as a FORUM or vBulletin or phpBulletin or something where you can get some action and have some people stay on the site. I've installed bunch of those. Have specific

Domain Member Server (wheezy) - Unable to edit permissions of share without usermapping - shall I add to Wiki?
Hi Davor, If the mapping of administrator to root is not ideal, I do like the idea of having a specific FileShareAdmin group. But, why chown and not simply chgrp? Thanks! Printer fiasco...
OK, First, thanks for all of the help recently. I appreciate it. But...I have just implemented the cvs code as to be able to use the 'use client driver' option because win nt/2k machines have been seeing an 'Access denied, unable to connect' error for the print queues and this will apparently fix this. I will describe my setup and what I have done thus far: RH 7.1 Samba 2_2 cvs

Voicemail File permissions
I'm working on an application that monitors, displays and manipulates voice mail messages for individual clients, with an option to click and play in a windows interface. The problem is that I need to create a Samba share that is accessible by the Windows file system object and I don't want to give the share root access. What I need is for the voice mail files to be created with a

I've had the same issue. Must not be many subscribers or they've moved on to some other list. I switched to the linux Shoutcast for my server (much more reliable) and am looking for a replacement for ices that reliably re-encodes VBR. Let me know if you find anything. BTW...maybe if you posted your config files for ices and icecast i could compare it with mine (or my old one for

ices - unable to compile
Thanks. That's got it. Now I'm getting "bad password" errors. "hackme" is the default password in icecast and i'm running ices with the -P hackme flag. Sorry to be such a drain... Can icecast stream a file from disk?
I'll toss in here and augment with Wade's remarks. Absolutely this is not an optimal use of icecast but may actually result in reduced complexity for deployment for people who need to stream both dynamic and static content. For example, if we have a live streaming site but we want to put some sample static content in the profile of the band who will be streamed later - going ahead and

Good luck with that. Actually I didn't mean log. I meant the icecast console itself. If it's in the right console mode (2?) it will display everything that's happening and any error messages. Seems like the log only shows uptime info by default. Any ol' how, i think i've exhausted my in-depth technical prowess ;-) -----Original Message----- From: owner-icecast@xiph.org

some permissions issues
I?m facing some troubles with file / directory permissions... I log on the domain as admin user(root), and theres a pub share, on witch everyone needs to have permission to create / modify files, but when I change or create a file, only root can change the file, no one else. And then i need to go to server to chgrp users * -R and chown nobody * -R to allow others users to change the file.

Owner/Permissions and winbind
Hello, I have two Samba Domains and each trust each other (PDCs run 3.0.22). Also I have a samba member server (3.0.24) that runs winbind. When I use wbinfo I can see the user and groups of both domains. I also can chown/chgrp files with users of the domain the server is member of. But I can`t chown/chgrp with accounts of the trusted domain. chown doesn`t work at all. chgrp works, but then only
