write dataframes
Hi,
After manipulate my data I have ended up with 5 different data frames
with different number of observations but the same
number of variables (columns)
An example, if I write str(object1), I see this,
data.frame':   47 obs. of  3 variables:
 $ ORF    : Factor w/ 245 levels "YAL038W","YAL054C",..: 10 19 38 39 44

problems with win98/smbd/automount and DNS lookups
Does anyone know what is going on with the following:-
A windows 98 machine maps several directories from a samba (2.0.0) server on a
Solaris 2.6 machine.
Twice now the win98 machine has locked up on opening the "my computer" icon,
simultaneously several smbd processes have appeared on the solaris machine
(initiated by that win 98 machine).
log.smbd reports a single error:-

(Fwd) Linux autofs overflow in 2.0.36+
I haven't seen this on the linux-security list so I thought I'd forward it on
for your review.
It was pulled from Bugtraq by one of our sys admins.

sharenfs=off, but still being shared?
I noticed an oddity on my 2008.05 box today.
Created a new zfs file system that I was planning to nfs share out to an old FreeBSD box, after I put sharenfs=on for it, I noticed there was a bunch of others shared too:
-bash-3.2# dfshares -F nfs

Multiple streams
Good afternoon everyone.
I'm using Icecast 1.3.10, LiveIce and Lame 3.91. I configured LiveIce to
encode different bitrate streams of my station and send them to the Icecast
server. In the admin panel of Icecast I can see both of the encoded streams,
one mounted on /icy_0 (bitrate 16000) and the other on /icy_1 (bitrate 24000).
When any client connects IceCast is sending the default

Hello,
I'm brand new to this streaming stuff so please bear with me.
I have installed and am running icecast 1.3.10, ices latest version:
0.0.1 beta5
and/or shout 0.8.0. No major problems with the exception of the
clients like to drop off
[and I see this problem posted before but didn't see any fix for it].
Btw... this is on Linux Slackware 7 operating system.
My question is

Directory Server on CentOS 5
Hello,
I read in the announcement of the UOP that Open Ldap will be
deprecated after Version 5 an replaced by the Directory Server.
Is the Directory Server included in CentOS 5 or only included in the
Version 5 orf the UOP?
Cheers

welcome to the list.
Check the archives.
There you will find about one newbie a month minimum discovering that the
widely distributed and still available shout package version 0.8.0
is actually deprecated and highly broken in exactly the manner you
describe.

Hi,
I had the same problem. Check your configuration file, where you have
speciefied the mountpoint, for 'white characters' at the end of the name
of the mountpoint.

mount point icy_n
Hello. My name is Tomoaki Abe. I'm a manager of a Japanese
Internet Broadcast Station. I'm here to report a problem about
Icecast1.3.12.
Sorry for my bad English.
The following is a brief summary of the problem.
When you connect using shoutcastDSP,
you are assigned different mount points accordingly from small to larger
numbers.
But due to a bug that we have discovered recently

Extending lwpsinfo_t with pr_lgrp for DTrace consumers
The sched provider defines the stable "lgrp" variable that is the lgroup of
the current CPU. This is mostly interesting when we can compare it with the
actual thread home lgroup, so I''d like to extend the lwpsinfo_t structure with
the new pr_lgrp field which will be implemented using translator. This will
match the addition of the pr_lgrp field to the proc(4) lwpsinfo_t

Strange automount problem with samba & LDAP
Hi all,
I've installed samba-3.0.21rc2 on a solaris 10 machine (latest patches
applied) by compiling from source:
#uname -a
SunOS newton 5.10 Generic_118844-20 i86pc i386 i86pc
User's home is mounted using automount without any problem. But when I
try to mount using samba, it can not access the users home directory
when it 's share is not mounted and gives following error:

After building and install dovecot I then made my own self signed SSL
certs and placed them carefully into the correct places :
Thus :
# grep -v "^#" dovecot-openssl.cnf | grep -v "^$"

encrypt_key = yes
distinguished_name = req_dn
x509_extensions = cert_type
prompt = no

Suggestion: The ability to limit the number of ICY connections
Hi all:
I'm looking at some of the features in SVN Icecast, particularly the
ability to reclaim fallbacks. This feature would be very useful for a
project I work with, and could see us switching to icecast from Shoutcast
compatible technology.
One problem arises, however. Some of our broadcasters use the legacy
Shoutcast DSP plugin, which can only perform ICY-style connects. My
