Problems with ices+icecast combination
Hello folks,
I've been trying to set up a system where ices operates as
a source for icecast. Ices gets a connection to icecast and
says that it's playing a file. So everything is seemingly
fine.
However something's wrong because icecast sometimes gets
data from ices, sometimes not. When I say "sources" in icecast,
it always says that Song Length is -1.
Well, I can connect

Running ices on startup
Hi everyone.
I'm running icecast and ices2 on OpenSuse 10.2 (could upgrade to 11.0 in a breeze though).
What I'm trying to achieve right now is to use this for a kind of "baby-phone" functionality.
That means:
1. There is a microphone attached to the server which records sound in the room
2. I'm in another room, listening to the server on Winamp, so I can hear what goes on

Ices memory leak?
Is anyone else experiencing what seems to be a memory
leak with Ices? I can have icecast up and running with
WinAmp streaming to it from my '98 box for days at a
time with no problem. As soon as I start Ices I'll
launch top to watch and my free mem starts dropping
-fast-. Starting from about 160MB free, in 4-5 hours I
have 2MB free with Ices crashed and the memory
unrecovered which sends

Trouble getting Ices/Icecast2 to stream
I'm rather new to this. I just set up Icecast and Ices using source from
CVS downloaded yesterday (3-20-2003). The box is running RedHat 8.0 with
all the required RPMs to compile. Here's my trouble:
I have Ices running in live mode, with it connecting correctly to the
Icecast server on port 8000 (which is only bound to 127.0.0.1). I'm
using Winamp on the client end connecting to port

Ices memory leak?
i'd also point out that memory "use" under linux can be deceptive.

Trouble getting Ices/Icecast2 to stream
Mike / Karl -
I've tried two different ways of setting up the "stream". In one URL, I
named the file directly (http://foo.bar.org:8001/stream.ogg), and in the
second, I made a stream.m3u file containing the afore mentioned http
statement. Neither worked in Winamp. I had downloaded version 3 of
WinAmp, so I uninstalled that, and went out and got the JOrbis (Java)
player and the

ices - unable to compile
Thanks. That's got it.
Now I'm getting "bad password" errors. "hackme" is the default password in
icecast and i'm running ices with the -P hackme flag.
Sorry to be such a drain...

ices question
hi folks,
after some adventures for setup an icecast server , the system is now
running, but there where some questions open:
1. ) i use ices as streamer for the server. in some cases (i dont know why)
is ices break after an while of streaming. ices re-encode the mp3 files with
lame 3.88 to stream them. there is no hint why the stream is broken in the
log files. after an restart of ices all looks

problems with icecast/ices
This is a very general email message. Please don't flame me on lack of
information. I don't often get a chance to get into the building where
this computer is located and unfortunately had turned logging off on the
icecast server to avoid it ever writing to disk.
The problem:
Simply put, I have an icecast server on Linux that uses ices that needs
to stream a signal 24/7 without

ices...mount points (and a LAME question)
hi
don't know if i'm missing something, but how do i name mount points
using ices?
i assumed this was specified in the
<ices:Stream>
<ices:Name></ices:Name>
</ices:Stream>
chunk
but whatever i put in there, icecast tells me that my stream is going to
/ices
(according to the output from configure/make, xml is being properly
compiled it)
