libshout2 namespace
AFAIK applications that want to keep libshout1 included for compatibility with icecast1 streaming will get problems with the struct and function namespace as it is organized now in libshout2. is there any way to avoid the problem or we should all simply move to ogg and fuck mp3 streaming all-in-once? -- jrml ..//korova.dyne.org 6EEE 4FB2 2555 7ACD 8496 AB99 E2A2 93B4 6C62 4800 --- >8 ----

If anyone wants to implement it, I'll be happy enough to add it, but I don't intend to

libshout1-based mp3 streaming to icecast2
According to what I've read on this mailing list, it should be possible to stream MP3 data to icecast2 using ices-0.2.3, which I assume also should be the case for any other streaming client based on libshout1. So I decided to test this out to see if we really could dispense with icecast1 altogether on the server I help administer. My results were not promising, to say the least. I wiped out

Where can I get Icecast 2.0?
I have Icecast 1.3.11 working just fine. Now I want to try to migrate to the Ogg Vorbis thing, for purposes of static file streaming. With 1.3.11 as a default install on RedHat 7.1, would I install v2.0 as a new product or overlay / delete the v1.3.11 install? Cannot build ices0/libshout2 on Mac OSX 10.4.2
Hi - I'm rebuilding my OSX system and I can't get ices0 to build - or to be more exact, can't get libshout2 to build. I started by using DarwinPorts, and icecast2 & libogg & libvorbis seemed to build OK. The install of ices0 then gave up at the libshout2 config stage with output like this: [...] checking for libvorbis... ok checking for struct ovectl_ratemanage_arg... no

problems with liveice
Hi! I'm running icecast 1.3.11 and liveice under Mandrake 7.2 Right now I don't have a sound card, but I will. Also I need to reencode the MP3s that I'm sending to the icecast server. I followed the instructions but it doesn't seem to work, when I first run icecast and after liveice I got this: from icecast Accepted encoder on mountpoint /icy_0 from localhost.localdomain. 1

Simple source on Debian
Hello everyone. I just joined this list, and I was wondering if any of you might have any suggestions. I'm looking for a source that will run on Debian, that would simply send mp3 files I have in a folder to my Icecast2 server in a random order. I do not require anything special, like random ads, scheduling support, etc. I've given Liquidsoap a try, but it seems to be far too complex for

icecast - it is what i search
Hi! I want to realize a realtime DJ Battle where some DJs enter in a virtual cypher and start a HipHop Battle. For example, there are 5 DJs an 5 listener in the Jury. Only one DJ my play at present and the others can only listen. After 2 minutes and a little break another DJ is on the turn and so on. Is icecast what i want? Can i realize it with icecast? thanks, buelent -- buelent caliskan

Stupid question of the day
Hi all, I just wanted to know where to find icecast2. I've downloaded icecast 1.3.11 and it looks wonderful, and works fine as far as I've tested it. However I want to be able to stream ogg instead of mp3. I've search "icecast2" on sourceforge, freshmeat, and google but to no avail. Google's "I'm feeling lucky" sends me directly to

Don't know if this has been covered or even asked, but how can you allow access to the streams to those on WebTV and those using Windows Media Player. We're using Icecast and Ices. Thanks in advance! Problems with libshout2
Hi, Let me know if this is the wrong place to post this, but I am having problems with cutouts in my streams using libshout2. I am taking audio files and re-encoding them at 32Kbs and then streaming them. Problem is that every 20 secs or so, the stream cuts out for about 5-10 secs and then continues. Any ideas as to why? Should I try using shout_send_raw? Thanks in advance!! Deven

choosing icecast and creating my own streamer
Hi all, is icecast good for me? I am interested in delivering some audio + mpeg4 animation through the internet (live streaming). my mpeg4 animation is supposed to be smaller than the audio o my questions are: - would icecast, as it is, support a different kind of stream (my own type) or do i have to mux the audio and video before into a special format? or maybe it supports only audio? - it

Simple source on Debian
Hi there. Thanks for the tip about Ices2. Do you know if it's possible to make it work with mp3 files? I only ask because there are several people who stream using my server, and they use mp3. I'm trying to create fallback streams, but in order for that to work, I'd have to get them to switch to ogg or find a way to make Ices work with mp3. Thanks On 6/9/15, Jos? Luis Artuch

libshout2 with aac
Hi, I'm write an icecast source client and I'd like to support streaming of AAC encoded files. Can anyone tell me if and how this can be achieved with libshout2/icecast? I've tried passing buffers of raw bytes from file to shout_send() but I can't get this work and I'm unsure of required client/server settings for AAC. Jamie -- http://www.jamiebullock.com
