Probably obvious but ...
I am fairly sure that no one else is dumb enough to try this but just in case. I generally run dnetc on most of my machines. I installed it in my latest machine that runs xen in dom0. I noticed that when I booted up a domU it was taking *forever*. I checked all my disk speeds and it ended up being caused by .... you guessed it dnetc. I figured it was only taking up spare cycles but apparently

High CPU load
Hello, I'm using dovecot-1.0.b9 on a FreeBSD 6.1 system. Usually we have 6 clients connected to dovecot through IMAPs. These clients are Thunderbird 1.5 programs. After some hours, one or two processed go up to 100% WCPU. As an example, this is what I see when I run 'top': last pid: 5111; load averages: 1.34, 1.82, 1.75 up 13+00:04:09 15:26:59 150 processes: 2 running,

1.3.11 instability on MIPS?

1.3.11 instability on MIPS?
Hey there. I have setup an icecast server on a Cobalt RAQ2 (may be a raq1, not entirely sure) with a MIPS processor. The icecast server compiles, and runs fine, atleast for a while. But on 2 occasions over the last 10 hours I have had to manually restart the server. Is there any known bug on the MIPS architechture, or should I investigate the problem more? Thanks Mike --

libpthread and icecast2
Heres a question for anyone awake at this hour, does icecast2 require libpthread? I'm trying to build it on a freebsd 4.3 box, and it wants to link against libpthread. If this is not required on the freebsd platform, then is it safe to just take out of the makefile? php-cgi frozen with sbwait when SMP enable
Hello, I have 4 web servers with lighttpd to serve one web site with DNS load sharing. On the 2 SMP-enable web servers, there will be many php-cgi frozen in 'sbwait' state every day. It means the php-cgi stay in 'sbwait' state, and never be back to 'accept' or other state. If I restart them, there will be frozen php-cgi appear some hours later. There is no problem on the

login reporting (utmp?) problem on Linux
I have recently compiled and installed openssh-2.1.1p1 on a linux box. The login reporting does not seem to work properly. When logging into the box via ssh (protocol 1) utmp shows the user logged in and the tty properly, but the field for the login date/time and the field for originating host contain all NULLs. Is anyone else seeing this same behavior, or have I just done something really

Memory allocation fails in R 2.2.1 and R 2.3.0 on SGI Irix, while plenty of memory available (PR#8861)
Dear R developers, We have a big SGI Origin computation server with 32 cpu's and 64 Gb of RAM. In R 2.0.0 we could run large jobs, allocating 8 Gb of RAM was not a problem, for example by running: > v1 <- seq(1,2^29) > v2 <- seq(1,2^29) > v3 <- seq(1,2^29) > v4 <- seq(1,2^29) This yields an R process, consuming about 8 Gb of RAM: PID PGRP USERNAME

Icecast2 ?
Since I am on a limited upload connection, but still want to stream high-quality music for friends (I do have a colocated server on the outside, but getting music there in the first place is the hard part) I am thinking of using OGG/Vorbis streaming, ~64kbit. However, I can't find icecast 2 beta to download. Can someone point me in the right place? Thanks Mike --
