no go, same ices/icecast errors
Hi Brendan and all: Well the upgrade libshout didn't fix the
problem. Here are more logs from ices and icecast. They certainly
don't tell me much.

Icecast Keeps Dying
I just upgraded to 1.3.10 and I'm using it with Ices from CVS.
The server only stays alive for about 12 hours before it dies.
You start seeing this:

/mediofi, waiting 30 seconds for timeout

Strangeness
Icecast has been working flawlessly for months serving hundreds of users a
day... But something strange is now going on... Do you know what it could be?
I start the icecast as usual:
/usr/sbin/icecast -c /etc/icecast/icecast.conf
Then the ices "player"
/usr/local/icecast/bin/ices -c /usr/local/icecast/conf/ices.conf
But now, the player is now dying constantly with Invalid

Icecast Directory
Why does my stream not show up in the Icecast directory but it does show up in the Shoutcast directory?
I have the following lines listed in my icecast.conf file.
icydir yp.shoutcast.com
directory yp.icecast.org
If I check the icecast.log file I see the following is occurring every couple minutes.
[28/Dec/2001:11:12:04] [1:Calendar Thread] directory_touch_xa([yp.icecast.org:80

Strangeness
Ahhhh, this is very strange! MY icecast server started doing the
same exact thing today out of the blue! it looks as if hundreds of
sources try to connect or something. but why would we both have the same
problem at the same time after months of it working fine?

I've just started useing Icecast and Ices. Both has mainly the defaults in
their conf files. fe.: Ices uses the default /ices mount point, end so on.
After playing serveral hours, problems come up... Ices dies. In the ices.log

Error during send: Libshout reported send error, disconnecting: Libshout
socket error.

I have been using icecast togeahter with ices and live streamers for almost
a year now.
We have between 10 to 300 listeners, localsite and outside world.
It has not been troublefree, icecast was stable util a week ago, just
crashed and refused to work anymore. We upgraded in hope to get rid of
problems.
It worked for maby 24 hours and then it just stops by random after

Orphan threads with Cellphone (Blackberry) player
Friends:
The icecast server is very robust, but has some goofiness with regard to
use with cell-phone players. Has anyone else encountered these issues?
When I use a Blackberry to access the icecast stream, I get orphan and
duplicate client threads.

Read-only (forensic) mounts of ZFS
Hi
Sorry for the cross-posting, I''d sent this to zfs-code originally. Wrong
forum.
I''m looking into forensic aspects of ZFS, in particular ways to use ZFS tools
to investigate ZFS file systems without writing to the pools. I''m working on
a test suite of file system images within VTOC partitions. At the moment,
these only have 1 file system per pool per VTOC

I am using 1.3.12+patch at the moment. That patch I have on it was the
one I submitted earlier which fixes the problem with the wrong
arguments passed to snprintf in the avl code. That shouldn't affect
sound.
I'm fairly certain it's a

ZFS and UFS performance
We are running Solaris 10 11/06 on a Sun V240 with 2 CPUS and 8 GB of memory. This V240 is attached to a 3510 FC that has 12 x 300 GB disks. The 3510 is configured as HW RAID 5 with 10 disks and 2 spares and it''s exported to the V240 as a single LUN.
We create iso images of our product in the following way (high-level):
# mkfile 3g /isoimages/myiso
# lofiadm -a /isoimages/myiso

Well, thought I would try one stream only to see if that makes a difference.
Apparently not. Here is a listing of the logs and I have attached the conf

directory_touch_xa knocks me down
I'm using icecast 1.3.10 and ices 0.1.0. I'm streaming through
adsl which seems to do about 350Kb up. Everything is fine and
stable for up to the 2 simultaneous subscribers I've tested so
far. But... when I uncommented a directory server (yp.icecast.org)
I see in the log:
directory_touch_xa([yp.icecast.org:80]) completed...server id = 69

Recovery of RAIDZ with broken label(s)
Hi all,
I have a 5 drive RAIDZ volume with data that I''d like to recover.
The long story runs roughly:
1) The volume was running fine under FreeBSD on motherboard SATA controllers.
2) Two drives were moved to a HP P411 SAS/SATA controller
3) I *think* the HP controllers wrote some volume information to the end of
each disk (hence no more ZFS labels 2,3)
4) In its "auto
