Tweaking Questions.
It looks like we have things running and just have a few
questions:
1- What MIME type and extentsion do we need to
open a player through Apache, currently what happens
is that it attempts to download the entire folder
containing the mp3's instead of opening up the
player (this happens at http://www.xxx.com:8000).
2- How can you create a playlist? Currently it
just plays the mp3's and

Where can you get libshout? Ours chokes at roughly 40 users and then
can't gain access to the admin sections.

A Practical Question.
I've written a few times, but haven't seen any
responses, so please forgive me if this has been
answered.
How many max users can be served by IceCast?
We can't seem to serve more than 40 users at a time
and I have no idea what to do at this point.
Any suggestions?
This is what everything is set to:
max_clients 100
max_clients_per_source 100
max_sources 5
max_admins 5
throttle 1.0

Originally I asked about how to do this on an Apache server
but our SA didn't hook it up to the Apache and it is
running as just Icecast.

a few ices/icecast questions
I've been through this on the list a while back. Unfortunately what you
are asking is not possible, nor are the authors of ices interested in
solving your problem :) I'd recommend ices-0.0.1.beta5.tar.gz (as
recommended by otto's author) and seeing otto/misc/icecast/ices.readme.
I use the recommended setup things run great.

i have a similar(ish) questionm tho i admit it may be slightly OT coz
I'm trying to do it with otto...any idea how to script (and here i guess
i AM asking 'how do i automate this with otto' rather than 'is there
anyway to do it with icecast') semiregular ads/news itesm/bulletins into
an otto playlist?

WebTV/ Windows Media Player
Don't know if this has been covered or even asked,
but how can you allow access to the streams to those
on WebTV and those using Windows Media Player.
We're using Icecast and Ices.
Thanks in advance!

Problem IceS and lame
This is about the 4th time i've seen this asked, and I will answer it
yet again.
People, please search the archives _first_.
Use the previous version of lame. 3.88 broke the api. 3.87 i believe
works fine.

So what you want is a file or files to play before the listener connects to
the stream from the icecast server? I don't think that icecast does this
internally like the shoutcast server can do,

how to modify ices source?
hello alexander...
you may or may not be acquainted with the program otto; it is
a web-based jukebox solution. it has the ability to play both
locally as well as to an icecast server via ices. however, as
there is not a static playlist, ices needs to to exit after
streaming an individual song. the author of otto had the following
suggestion for stream.c per ices-0.0.1.beta5:

Compiling errors by reencode
Hi there,
I hope you can help me:
I want to compile the newest ices with reencode and use lame3.70.
At the 'configure' he checks successfully for 'lame decode in lmp3lame'.
But when I do a 'make', I have the following message:
gcc -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I. -I.. -I../resolver -I../thread
-I../libshout -I/tmp/Download/lame3.70
-I/usr/lib/perl5/5.00503/i586-linux/CORE

Admin question[s]
Hello,
I'm brand new to this streaming stuff so please bear with me.
I have installed and am running icecast 1.3.10, ices latest version:
0.0.1 beta5
and/or shout 0.8.0. No major problems with the exception of the
clients like to drop off
[and I see this problem posted before but didn't see any fix for it].
Btw... this is on Linux Slackware 7 operating system.
My question is

How can you have an intro play prior to it
going in the stream ala Live 365?
Any suggestions would be great!
